The bill will be paid with money from the city’s bed tax. A portion of every dollar spent in the city's hotels goes to improve city facilities.

John Crescimbeni is known as a fiscal hawk on City Council. He tells Action News that this money has specific uses.

“I can't spend it on mowing grass. I can't spend them on salaries, I can't spend them on the monthly utility bills,” said Crescimbeni. “I can only spend it on capital improvement projects."

The above taken from story on Actionnews.   So as you can see it is being funded via funds set up for the improvement of city facilities and can only be used for those types of things.  But as already seen people will make up their own 'facts' to meet their agenda.

The last football game I attended was in 1957.  Now, anyone wanting me to go to a game would have to pay me $500 to think about going.... $1,000 for the time spent at the game...  free food.... an isolated booth, away from the loud game enthusiasts...... a full massage....... and a bonus of $1,000 for each time I looked at the game for more than five seconds.

Too much work to do.  I have time only for drugs, beer, sex, and reading. Does this mean that I’m not much of a sports fan?

The First Baptist Church and the Jaguars.  What more could we want?

Who knows.

Maybe this expenditure on the field will result in long term positive impacts on core revitalization....... somehow.  Or maybe it will be a net loss.

Who knows.

So that's where all the money need to keep street lights on went to. I'll remember this the next time someone on the city council cries that property taxes need to be raised to support city services.

I'm pretty sure that the $ for this comes entirely from a bed tax that is earmarked for stadium improvements.

It's not a "keep libraries open or build amenities for the Jaguars" choice the city is making.

RE: pools

I don't know whether or not the Marlins' stadium has them, but the Arizona Diamondbacks' stadium has had them for years.  I think the Padres also?

Yeah Marlins Park, and Chase Field in Phoenix both have pools. Petco Park in San Diego does not.

^ Hahaha or how long until someone gets pushed into pool?  Maybe we can set up a carnival there and raise money to keep the libraries open by having a "Dunk your Councilperson" competition! :)

Thanks for expressing your personal feelings, not everyone loves the Jaguars or even likes to attend the games and that is okay.  As a matter of fact, less than 10% of Jacksonvillians attend the games so you can rest assured you're in the majority.  Now Mr. Chamblin, let me point out that many of those who do venture into EverBank Field on Sunday afternoons and a couple of Thursday evenings know your name and your business, so anything to bring more of them closer to your business even if just once to view the massive screens and pools and whatever else, should be viewed as a positive.

Thank you for laying this out for everyone. People are already starting this "tax payers dollars" crap. The money being used for Everbank is just for that. Thats why there is a stadium fund as well. The revenue we get that from the tax payers that patronize the stadium, the money is used for the upkeep of the facilities.

I stopped going to the games cause they were telling us we HAD to buy a ticket to support the team and they started  searching us, pat downs,  at the gate.

Now Shawn K. says that once we see the improvements we won't be able to stay away. ...............Wanna bet?

^So you stopped going to the games because they searched and patted you?  So have you stopped flying in airplanes as well?

Isn't this the revenue source that was mentioned a few years back, as being an option to fund the construction of a new convention center?
