RAP Announces New Executive Director

Jacksonville, Florida – March 9, 2016 Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) announces the selection of Adrienne Burke as its new Executive Director, replacing Carmen Godwin who held the position for the previous eight years. Godwin has taken a role as Program Manager for the Florida Association of Museums (FAM). Burke is currently Director of Community Development for the City of Fernandina Beach.

In her role with Fernandina Beach, Burke has led historic preservation actions including efforts to be awarded the notable Main Street designation by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, development of a master plan for the historic Bosque Bello Cemetery, and attainment of historic designation for Peck High School. Burke has an advanced degree in Historic Preservation and a law degree from the University of Florida.

RAP's mission is to enhance and preserve the architecture, history, culture and economic vibrancy of the Riverside Avondale historic neighborhood of Jacksonville. Key projects undertaken by the organization include Riverside Arts Market, the upcoming John Gorrie Dog Park, the Community Garden and city-wide favorites Spring Home Tour and Luminaria.
Keith Holt, Chair of the RAP Board, states that a national search was conducted to identify candidates. "A careful review of many able applicants was conducted; Burke's credentials and references made her an early leader in the process. After several discussions, Adrienne became the search committee's unanimous choice. RAP could not have identified a better candidate."

This is a very strong hire in my opinion. Being able to bring in someone of her caliber is a testament to how great a neighborhood Riverside/Avondale is.

10 points for the win.

8 points.  You have to -2 for not mentioning sushi.

Offset by a +2 bonus for not mentioning urinating on trees.

Somebody like this should be the head of MCCD or HPC.  That would be a real change.

Agreed.

But I'll have to take a half-point away from you, Adam, for not mentioning, "Citrus" tree.
