For the 3rd pick, we got AJ Cann guard from South Carolina.

Yeah, I'm clueless on this one personally but:

A.J. Cann | OG, South Carolina
Height: 6-3   Weight: 313

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports, gives this an A grade and adds this comment:

QuoteI love this kid. He is mauler in the run game. This makes a ton of sense for a line building to something. He is tough and physical.

Kudos to Dave Caldwell; this looks like a great draft so far.

Cann is a great pick, to push aging Zane Beadles at Guard. Cann played in 51 of 52 games at USC, kid looks solid and provides balance on the line for the Jags.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."
-Mayor Alvin Brown on new video boards at Everbank Field

The Jags 4th round pick, James Sample, safety from Louisville.

IMO it's kinda alarming that the Jags haven't picked a WR yet, but whatever. In Dave we trust.

RattlerGator

Not surprising to me. They like what they have (I do, too) and want to see what Blake can do with them this season after working with them for a full offseason. WR, TE, RB, O-Line -- they like the groups of competitors in each. If the selection of Sample is a clue, Gus is firming up the defense and special team warriors, it appears. I'm cool with that.

Maybe they'll pick up Rashad Green from FSU. He was nothing but a playmaker as FSU.

^^^We got him. Yes, a wide receiver!!!  :)

Looks like I nailed that one.

He can also play in the slot. No linebacker can stay with this guy.

I also nailed the TJ Yeldon pick.:)

I-10east

^^^Yup, you called that one.

RattlerGator

Not sold on this pick at all; small, weak, fairly slow. Sure he's football smart, but he's going to get crushed in the NFL IMHO. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Shad is a huge steal in the 5th round. Great kid, hard worker, and a very good all around WR. Has elite body control in the air, good quickness, solid route runner, and great hands. He'll never be a #1 WR with his size, but he can potentially be a very good 2nd or 3rd WR.

This is what CBS Sports said about him.

"Wide receiver with big-game experience and productivity. Excellent hands and refined route runner. Limited athlete but can carve out a niche on underneath routes."

They gave him A- grade, and someone on the panel said that he could've went in the third round. Considering that Greene was picked in the 5th round, the pick sounds pretty good to me.

MusicMan

All time FSU leader in yards and receptions. Don't remember him ever missing a start because of injury. Was clutch, too. Broke some huge gains off especially in the last drive vs Auburn in the Natl Champ game and against Va Tech the previous year long td catch with less then a minute to go.

Watch for Nick O'Leary to go to the Patriots later today.

Or not.
