My problem is I WATCHED THE GAMES LAST YEAR. OUR OFFENSE SUCKED. NOT OUR DEFENSE. FOWLER WAS A DECENT PLAYER, NOT A GAME CHANGER. HE PLAYED IN THE SEC, THE PERFECT PLATFORM TO SHOWCASE HIS SKILLS. BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED.HE WAS OK. AMARI COOPER WAS AMAZING. THE TOP RECEIVER ON A POWER RUNNING TEAM, WITH AN AVERAGE QUARTERBACK, AND HE PLAYED LIGHTS OUT.

We will see. We can come back to this thread next season and see. I have no problem being wrong. I buy the tickets, I support the team. And I watch a lot of college football, that's where you find the stars of tomorrow. Amari Cooper was a superstar on a great team. Dante Fowler was a good player on an average team. Never showed the production you want from a Number 3 Draft pick.

^^^I feel ya. Don't forget about Julius Thomas, who I think is a huge addition. Blake now has a go-to TE.

For_F-L-O-R-I-D-A

Dante is a beast. The best player on the field most games he played including against FSU (he dominated FSU). Amari is awesome too but HBC is a defense guy and we went offense last year with Bortles.

Offense was primarily rookies, this draft is deep and this is why you see so few trades. Why would you added another wide receiver at pick 3 to add to a young group of wide receivers you already have. They added JT and help on the online. And again it's just the first round.

Keith-N-Jax

And no one knows what DF will be, he hasn't played a single NFL game yet.

I'm going to trust the actual professionals who give this pick a thumbs up vs the arm chair qb's who aren't in charge of building a football team. I was in the camp hoping for offensive playmaker with our first pick, but this pick still makes sense.

Here are some reminders to keep uppermost as we look at the remainder of the draft for our Jacksonville Jaguars

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/3/10/8150357/nfl-free-agent-signings-tracker-2015-rumors

Signed or Claimed Off Waivers:

DB Sergio Brown,
CB Davon House,
OT Jermey Parnell,
OLB Dan Skuta,
DT Jared Odrick,
TE Julius Thomas
WR-KR Bryan Walters
C Stefen Wisniewski
RB Bernard Pierce

(these are all SIGNIFICANT signings IMHO)

Here's the write-up for Jax in this middle of March story, "NFL free agency 2015: The 9 biggest winners so far"

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/3/13/8205529/2015-nfl-free-agency-grades-winners-losers-jets-bills-jaguars-colts

The Jags added some much-needed talent on defense in House, Brown, Dan Skuta and particularly Jared Odrick, who should come in and immediately play a number of roles as a disrupter on the defensive line. They re-upped Alualu, who has experience in the system and plays a solid, not spectacular, part in Gus Bradley's defense.

The jewel in their free agency crown is, of course, tight end Julius Thomas, one of the NFL's more prolific touchdown catchers over the past two years in Denver. Thomas' red zone prowess is something the Jags needed to add to their offensive equation, and he should provide a nice target for second-year quarterback Blake Bortles.

The Jags were willing to give Thomas $21 million guaranteed because he can come in and be the joker in an offense that will feature Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns and Marcedes Lewis in 2015. They're assembling weapons around their young (hopeful) franchise quarterback, and they are hoping this takes some pressure off of him to do it all.

I can admittedly be eternally optimistic, but I feel very good about what the Jags are doing.

Time to pick up a running back now.

Time to pick up a running back now.

I'm kind of hoping a good one is still available in the 3rd since there are still a couple of credible inside LBs on the board now.  There's just no depth on the roster behind Smith, Posluszny, and Skuta, and getting a long term MLB who can run would be awfully nice.

Had Green Bay not snagged him, I think we would've had to have considered Randall, the safety from Arizona State, too.

T J Yeldon from 'Bama is out there. He could help out around here. Duke Johnson from "da U."?

And for a late round pick up I like Karlos Williams from FSU. Big (6"1" 230 and fast 4.5 40) with great hands. Could also be a special teams beast.

Looking back at last season's scores, our offense only scored 20 points in one game.  Blake is a project folks, not a proven commodity. We
did not beat a team with a winning record last year.

They got their LEO, now let's focus on Offense, where the Jags were DEAD LAST  in

points at 15.6 per game

and 31st in:
total yards with 296 per game
pass yards with 187 per game

The offense was horrendous last year. We need more weapons for Bortles.

Hard for me to say considering the cess pool of a school he attended, but I'd be pretty ecstatic to see Duke Johnson in a Jags uniform this year.
