Browns center Alex Mack visited the Jags. That would be great if we sign a veteran center like Alex Mack. It seemed like when Mack initially hit the market, he scared some teams off by asking for too much.

I think it's just because the Browns put the transition tag on him, and they have a lot of cap space to match offers.  Nobody wanted to tie themselves up in the early part of free agency since the Browns would have a week to match any offers.  They just would have been stuck there waiting while other centers signed elsewhere.  I'd like to see the Jaguars get him - he would be a great addition.

Right on Ajax.

The Browns claim they would match a 22m deal "in a second". Well if thats the, why doesnt he have a long term deal yet? If it was that easy, they would already signed him to a deal. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

^ because the Browns are letting other teams determine Mack's value...then they can match it if desired (but he isn't obligated to sign with them)...that's why they put the transition tag on him to start with.

I understand that part, but they claim they can match ANYTHING that any other teams offer. If thats the case, why wont they just give mack what he wants. So if the Jags offer him a ridiclous, unrealstic offer (which they wont, but were hypothetical), the Browns would match it? I dunno to me the transition tag is really pointless.

Who says that's what Mack wants?  What if Mack wants 30 mil over 3 years?  The transition tag is good for the Browns cause they can let other teams determine Macks value, then pay at the market's level, not Macks level.  They don't want to pay a penny more than they have to.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

The Jags are gonna have SpartaTrac (an athlete evaluation and performance software) for the 2014 season. We are so freaking high tech! I guess that no one in teal & black will have any excuses. :) The Falcons are the only other NFL team that will be using this software.

Jags are signing Mack to a five-year offer sheet.  Cleveland will have five days to match.

Has anyone seen Manzeil on Gruden QB Camp?

I watched it last night.

Gruden was showing film of his throws against Bama. Gruden asked him why he threw the TD against the odds instead of just throwing it away (as Manning would do).

His response? "Why would I do that? That's no fun!"

So far is being said that the Browns are "mulling" over matching the contract. The whole jive about them matching in a second seems to be mute now. The opt out in the contract has them stuck. All I can say is if we pull this off Im taking Caldwell to Chuckie Cheese. LOL

But what is even more hilarious is Browns fan trashing the Jags? Really? Saying we are "dysfunctional". THey have been dysfunction for decades. Maybe they are still upset because the last time we played we forced three turnovers in less than two minutes, and beat their best corner for the game winning TD???  ;D

If Caldwell pulls this off, it has to rate as one of the best moves, if not THE best, in this years free agency.

I think even if he doesn't pull it off, it is a top rate move. If the Browns match, they will have difficulty resigning either Joe Haden, Jordan Cameron, or Josh Gordon, all of whom are also top rate players but play premiere positions, and any time you can cash strap another team, it is a win in my book.

Browns fans, in general, are a very angry bunch.

Being from Ohio and having lived in Cleveland.  ( a city I really like btw)   Cleveland fans are a bitter bunch no doubt but what they have gone through with decades of losing and no championship by any team since the 1948 Indians it is kind of expected.

Don't forget Art Modell moving the team in 1996, as well.

That would make anyone bitter.

And the further indignity of having your team be the focus of Draft Day, now playing at a theater near you.
