He is and always has come across as a very immature person.

Everybody on PFT is trashing him in the comments. Even people that are not Jags fans are livid.  He has really shown his true colors the past few years. And to think we gave Freddie T the boot for this immature clown. Hell Freddie was the one done wrong if you really wanna look at it. Man, Im so upset about this.

Not sure he is immature. But he definitely has a "me against the world" attitude. It helped him at first but it has been a detriment to him later in his career.

His comments were completely unnecessary.

Maybe immature or just butt hurt, but Jags won many games on MJD's back. No one was complaining then,

^^in his first two years we won alot of games but Fred Taylor was the feature back.  In the 6 seasons he was the featured back we won a total of 31 games, basically averaging 5 wins per year. While obviously he was not the primary reason for our poor records, lets also not go crazy and act like he carried us to all of these victories on his back.

Keith-N-Jax

All of what victories? Drew was the only person bascially on the field worth watching until he got injured. Taylor probably got a few more years because he didnt have carry the load all by himself. I didnt read what he said and really dont care. I actually feel sorry for him being stuck on suck a bad in the prime of his career.

edjax

I guess all of the victories is in reference to your comment of all the many games he won for us.  Your statement not mine.

Keith-N-Jax

He did win alot of games, what team were you watching? Anyway this shouldn't surprise anyone. He moved on, lets do the same.

edjax

I was watching the team that won a total of 31 games in 6 years he was the featured back so regardless he was not winnng a ton of games.

I think the part MJD missing is that it was the jags who did him wrong, it was the RB market. The Jags didnt do anything different. The market for veteran RB market is in the toliet now. But hes the first one to say "its just busines" but when something doesnt go his way, hes the victim. It seems that he thought since he was MJD we were obligated to resign him to a big contract regardless of the circumstances. Even more ironic, the firest thing he says about his former team is negative, but the organization sent put out a message thanking  him for everything hes done. Do what other veteran players do when they arent resigned, Thank the City, Thank the fans, and move on with your life.

I guess this is why he's pissed. He's only getting 2.5 million a year. We gave Toby 3.5 on a three year, but hes younger and has less wear and tear. I guess he now see's what happends to veteran running beyond their prime. He complains about his contract with us, and now hes not even making half of that SMH

MJD's compensation gets cut in half

Getty ImagesRunning back Maurice Jones-Drew wasn't happy with a Jaguars contract that paid him $4.45 million in 2012 and $4.95 million in 2013.  He can't be thrilled, then, about his how first foray into free agency finished.

Per a source with knowledge of the contract details, Jones-Drew's three-year contract with the Raiders has an annual average value of only $2.5 million.

Specifically, he'll make $2.5 million each year.  In 2014, the money comes from a $1.2 million fully guaranteed roster bonus, a non-guaranteed base salary of $1.2 million, and a workout bonus of $100,000.

Next year, the money comes from a $2.4 million salary (non-guaranteed) and a $100,000 workout bonus.  The same formula applies in 2016.

Jones-Drew's replacement in Jacksonville, Toby Gerhart, is getting $3.5 million per year on a three-year deal, with $4.5 million guaranteed.  Former Colts tailback Donald Brown, now a Charger, has the same three-year package, with $4 million guaranteed.

While surely the best offer Jones-Drew received, it's far short of what he thought he'd get on the open market.  Which explains why the numbers didn't come out until they were officially filed.

Still, it's always better to be silent about a bad deal than to try to make a bad deal look better than it is by lying about the numbers.

Sounds like a 1 year $2.5 million contract to me.  If he doesn't perform this season, the Raiders can kick him to the curb and not take much of a salary cap hit.  Or they can renegotiate the last two years of it.  I'd be shocked if he finishes out this contract.

That is what I see. 1 year to tide the Raiders through. The constant annual workout bonuses are odd.

The Raiders actually have a decent OL. Rashad Jennings is OK, but it helped him to have a decent OL and made him look like a stud. Reece and other subs have had great if not streaky days and if McFadden had stayed healthy, probably would have done better.

If MJD can take advantage of the OL, then he will do just fine. But if he is slow to hit his holes or can't break any one hand tackles, then its 1 and out.

Browns center Alex Mack visited the Jags. That would be great if we sign a veteran center like Alex Mack. It seemed like when Mack initially hit the market, he scared some teams off by asking for too much.

I think it's just because the Browns put the transition tag on him, and they have a lot of cap space to match offers.  Nobody wanted to tie themselves up in the early part of free agency since the Browns would have a week to match any offers.  They just would have been stuck there waiting while other centers signed elsewhere.  I'd like to see the Jaguars get him - he would be a great addition.
