3.  Generation J is really starting to come into their own. - Read Alfie's column.

I think this is where Khan and Lamping have hit it out of the park. They realize how young the fanbase is and are embracing the first generation of Jaguar fans. I am 33 and have had season tickets since 2001. When my group of friends bought tickets we were no doubt the youngest people in our section and it was like that for most of the 2000's. But over the last couple of seasons, you cannot help but notice how young the crowd is at Jaguars games. 30 is probably now the median age. For alot of them, they hardly remember a time when Jacksonville did not have an NFL team. This generation is what will form the foundation of a fanbase for years to come.

It's amazing how much excitement there is for the Jags up at UNF compared to even five years ago.

I am eager to see ticket sales data.  The Jags are saying the right things but I know way more people dropping tickets than people getting new tickets.

I guess it depends....  I know of about 15 people at St. V's that just bought season tickets for the first time, anywhere from 1 to 6 each.  There was a small discount given to St. V employees and several people jumped at the chance.

And sure, you can say, 'so what?', but that's still approx. 30-40 season tickets sold in one day at one hospital....  How many hospitals were given the same opportunity?
No, that's impressive (although the discounts have always been there).  Its only speculation until we see the data but I believe sales will be down.

SO my friend you are the GM and the team president now? You just know it all dont you! If megatron said it, that settles it? You do know that you DONT know everything right?  And as far as ticket sales, season tickets are going like hot potatoes. No need to speculate on that.
Where is the evidence that tickets are selling like hot potatoes?  Maybe they are.  I just have not seen that data.

And you wont. Just like last year, they are keeping it to themselves, so stop whinning
Who's whining?  Not me.  You just take anything close to being objectively negative about the Jaguars way too personally.

No..its not that I take it personal. But you are always negative about everything and that is draining. I think I can count on one hand how many times youve said anything decent about the Jags. Everything else is a complaint or a negative comment. It just gets draining after while.

Man, thats good stuff. Im Brunell is going to offically retire this year also. But if Im not mistaken they both have to wait because there has to be room on the roster for them to sign one day contract and retire. And right now the roster is right at 90.

Besides the new management and this draft class, there is very little reason to be positive about the Jags right now.  They are getting the ship turned around but its a terrible football team.

Yeah, but we were terribly terrible on December 30th last year.  We couldn't get any worse and things looked bleak.  Since then everyday has been slightly more positive than the previous.  Small steps.  Getting better everyday as Gus says.

Then again, I've been led astray many times.  I think its safe to say that when we suck again this year, we will suck in an entirely different way than we've sucked in the past.  And maybe there is a little bit of hope in that, And hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

I don't think anyone is expecting a miracle, but rather an overall direction that we can be optimistic about. Much respect to Wayne Weaver, but at the end of his run as owner, things were pretty unbearable. The franchise was obviously run on the cheap, and Gene Smith was off scouting punters for our third round pick. There was zero indication that things were getting better, and nothing to look forward to.

Khan has come in and put a front office in place that delivered the Jags best draft in years. The Jags have stated that they are committed to building through the draft, and if year one of the post-Gene Smith era is any indication, they're off to a good start. Gabbert and Blackmon are question marks, but they're also the byproduct of Gene Smith. The front office is playing it rather smart with the QB situation, in my opinion. Instead of caving into the pressure to replace Gabbert with Tim Tebow, or risk a pick with a questionable Geno Smith, they're going to ride it out for one more year, plug a few other holes, and perhaps use next year's more QB-heavy draft on a new quarterback if necessary.

Further, Khan is treating the Jaguars like a true NFL franchise. The LA talk is all but dead, and instead, incredible new locker rooms have been built at the stadium, talks are underway for the largest video screens in the nation, and the 90s fad-color uniforms have been replaced with bleeding edge outfits from Nike. The new logo might be polarizing, but it at least is symbolic of badly needed change. Even the long-discouraged "Jags" nickname is now being embraced via the awesome shield logo. Sportsmania can't keep the new merch in stock. We're playing a game in London freakin England. Tony Boselli and Mark Brunell have been added to the broadcast teams. Marketing rallies are being held throughout Northeast Florida. Just a lot of fun stuff going on.

I don't think many people are expecting to compete for the playoffs next year, or even the following year, but it sure feels like things are moving in the right direction.

This is the most contradictory statement that I've seen on MJ. Okay, you said that the "Jags are getting the ship turned around in the right direction with the management and the draft class", then you went on the say that "there's very little reason to be positive about the Jags". Seriously, are you two different people? You can't say one of those statements, along with the other with a straight face. Bottomline, there will always be negative Nannies like yourself. Even if the team exceeds expectations, you'll say some annoying comment like "The Jags stroke of luck will not last long". Way to be consistent Megatron.

Lets not overlook the "they are a terrible football team" part. They have completely gutted the roster, and this will be a completely different team than last year. Not to mention, the season has not even started yet. So how would be know that they are a "terriable football team" if we have never seen these guys play?

^^^You're right. With the right added players and staff, NFL teams can make dramatic turnarounds within a short period of time. So much depends on how well Gabbert plays.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens. Weve never gutted our roster like this before. I have coworkers who are season ticket holders and they are all excited.

Perhaps my statement was a little unclear.  I see little reason to be positive about the play on teh field.  Shoould be a little better in 2013 but it would be hard to be worse.

Question: Has anybody ordered a Jersey offline and have you received it? Man, these shits are taking forever. I ordered mine the day after the draft party and the thing stated that it would mailed no later than May 20th. Well I checked on line this morning and it still has not been shipped. If I dont see anything by this afternoon, Im going to call customer service. Anybody experiencing that?
