Jaguars must still sell more than 13,000 tickets to avoid blackouts

Tebow Day, har har.

Yeah those three games are certainly going to be packed. You will be surprised how many Broncos Gator fans you will see September 12th. Completely fine, because they buy tickets.

Fixed it for you. I was at the game versus the Redskins in 2002 and there were so many rednecks wearing combinations of Gator and Redskins gear. They didn't say much after Spurrier's team got throttled.

IMO this Tebow controversy has made a pickett fence; Aint no sitting on the fence, either you're a true Gator fan, or a true Jaguar fan. Most of the Gator fans wants Jax to lose the Jags, so that J-ville will become Palookaville, or Cowford. Jaguar fans wants a big league, thriving and progressive city here.

Unfortunately for me I hafta go to that s*ithole G-ville to the VA Hospital about every two months for check ups. Everything there is Gators! That town would literally be a black hole without the Gators.

Go Jags!!!!Boo Tebow, and the Gators!!! I really didn't wanna stoop to that level, but these nauseating Tebow-backers made me do it.

Mattius92

Dude poeple look to the Gators because they have had success. The Jaguars still haven't pulled in a Super Bowl, and even a AFC championship in a while. Anyways that shouldn't stop people for rooting for them, but if you look at the two teams, which one would someone that has never seen football before pick. They would go with the Gators. So you cant say that they are a bunch of whatever you think they are. Sports play a huge role in America, particularly football. And another thing about America is the stress on being a "winner". You go move to Japan if you want to see everyone "win". So you can't go bashing a team that many poeple look too, but it also means not to bash less fortunate teams.

On top of it, the Gators have sold out every game since like 1990, College football might not be as good as Pro Football, but you cant say it doesn't have a following. The popularity of the Gators is one of the reasons Jacksonville got the Jags in the first place. If Gainsville wasn't there you can sure of bet that the Jags could of went to any other state, especially since Florida already had two pro teams.

And your statement about either being a true Gator or Jags fan is ridiculous. I have been and raised in Jacksonville, and I support the Jags all the way, but I also my family has always been huge Gator fans. You can be fans of both teams. Though I am sure that some UF students might think differently.

The idea of "us vs. them" is ridiculous, but that doesn't mean it's not true, Mattius.  I think it's pretty effing stupid, but like everyone else, I've heard all the angry calls into the radio shows, seen all the crap people submit to "Ask Vic", and it gave me just another reason to be embarrassed about Jacksonville and its people.  The idiotic opinion of "draft Tebow or I'm not buying tickets" ran rampant around town to the point that some would claim to be Broncos fans now.  I'm not sure there's better evidence of the belief we as a city have a self-hatred thing going on.  "They" can to kick rocks and let "us" start the process of becoming more than East Gainesville.

So Mattius92's opinion is basically root for everybody that wins. Yeah, I'm now a New Orleans Saints fan, NY Yankees fan, LA Lakers fan, Pittsburgh Penguins fan, Alabama Crimson Tide fan, and I'm a Cameron Crazie; These are the teams that I "look to" because they are the latest champs, therefore I'm recently a die-hard fan of all of them. ??? ::)

As for one of the reasons the Jags came to Jax was because of the Gators, that's your opinion; Don't go thinking that it's etched in stone or something. There are also alotta college football fans around here who are fans of other schools like Georgia, and Florida State, just in case that you didn't know.

I think Ock may be referring to the put downs Tebow often is subjected to because of Gator fan's and the media's intense obsession with the young man.

Bingo! The only reason he seems to attract the "watch us hate ourselves" crowd is that Tebow is a all around good kid. My point has NOTHING to do with football, Jaguars, Gators or playoff games, just an observation that the world seems to be holding Tebow to a way different standard.  Which for religious, moral or sporting reasons is just wrong.

^What he said.  Tebow is a good kid and I wish him all of the success in the world.  He is a victim of the hype machine and the weird schizo sports thing here in Jax.  But I'm a Jags fan and will be rooting against his team this year!

I never said root for whoever wins, I said that most poeple tend to act that way.

Its wasn't just the Gators, it was the fact that N. Florida was huge on football, whether its Miami, Georgia, Florida State, or even a High School team. Which you probably dont even like Bolles.

Lastly I was never bashing the Jags or the Gators, I was explaining why poeple like the Gators so much, and its not because they are a bunch of retards.

^^^Well said. Although, the Gator hype/retard connection is halfway debatable. Just kidding.

Since like 1990? I'd go back further when Pell and Hall were there, they sold out most of the games after they started winning. No Jags without UF, you might be right, Jax tried to get a team for so long, but because UF was so bad and such a doormat, we couldn't get anyone to look at Jax. Thanks UF, we would not be here without you. I guess.
