that is a stupid way of looking at things...of course the other areas are more...after all they are larger...perhaps it should be per capita income....

Jacksonville is at the bottom of the list per capita as well.

Don't get your panties in such a twist...Macy's ain't all that.

no worries...just saying that places like Tallahassee, gainesville, and Ocala all have a Macy's...an none of them would come close to the Jax. area in terms of total income.

Forever 21 was supposed to be the anchor for Avenues Walk.  However, I assume that project must be stalled.

when forever 21 is your anchor, you've got problems!

They are, and they are dropping the forever from their name.

That will not  help bring the needed traffic to the Avenues.

I thought Macy's would have been a perfect needed fit.

I guess SJTC wins again.

So, is Macy's officially coming to the Town Center?

yes...and since Jax. never had Burdines, we don't have Macy's

If my sources are right1 technically we SHOULD have a Macy's:

Cohen Brothers department store (now City Hall) was bought by May Company (1959)
May Company named it May-Cohens
May Company became Federated Department Stores (2005)
Federated Department Stores became Macy's Inc (2007)

So, we should have a huge Macy's in the St James Bldg downtown  ;D

Thank you for reposting my question...  How 'bout an answer?  Even better, how about you provide some proof to support the thread you started?

You gotta love the non believers. They are always great entertainment.

Seriously though, w/o facts and/or evidence this is occuring, then I'm left to believe this is nothing but a thread to get attention or see how many pages it can go.

While it would be great to see this happen, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon yet.

It's possible that Dillard's does not need 2 store within 5 miles of each other.  Macy's is desperately needed to help the Avenues.

BSC, where is your followup on specific evidence anything in retailing in Jax is about to change for the better?

Should we shorten your initials to "BS"?  ;D
