Don't believe everything you read (except this)

Every week, I receive approximately 3.7 fafillion press releases from snooze-worthy companies. But last week, I received one purporting to be from Macy's.

I snapped to attention: Would this finally be the announcement that Macy's - that elusive unicorn local shoppers have yearned for - would finally enter the Jacksonville market?

Uh, not exactly.

"Macy's has no further plans to expand in Florida," read the first sentence on the release.

And it just got worse from there. The rest of the press release described Jacksonville as a city "lousy with sailors and trailer trash," and closed with, "There's always Wal-Mart." Talk about catty!

When I faxed the bogus press release to the Macy's Florida headquarters, marketing executives were horrified with the blatant fakery. (Spokeswoman Melissa Goff even said she was "highly disturbed.")

Goff assured me that Macy's has nothing but love for Jacksonville - but when I asked if the mega-retailer was heading our way, she clammed up instantly.

If ever there were a stupid-ass MJ thread that I wish would come to a violent end, never again to surface on this noble forum of useful, creative and newsworthy contributions, it would be this one. >:(
"If we bring not the good courage of minds covetous of truth, and truth only, prepared to hear all things, and decide upon all things, according to evidence, we should do more wisely to sit down contented in ignorance, than to bestir ourselves only to reap disappointment."

Idk about that, I'd say any thread Bostech makes is worse.
