So if I am reading this correctly, the Jacksonville area locations are owned by Peterbrooke Chocolate?

Thats a shame.  I always liked their Burgers.  We ate at the Baymeadows location often.  I always thought that the atmosphere/decor was a bit odd and the service was hit and miss.

Bubba Burgers is going to be taking their place!

Seriously? I know that Bubba was looking at potentially opening restaurants but hadn't heard anything about it in months.

fsujax

not joking. that is what I have heard.

I have an old friend that works at their home office on Roosevelt and when I last saw him in October he said that Bubba Burgers was seriously exploring getting into the restaurant business. If that is the new concept, that is good news.

To add to the Blockbuster discussion, it appears the one at Hodges/JTB is getting the axe. Sign went up over the weekend. I lived in an apartment in that area for a while. That Blockbuster was great and the guys that worked there did a great job with recs.

Not a shock at all.. Blockbuster is one of 11 companies named last year that are in trouble.  As someone else stated, I feel for the employees who will be out of a job as a result of this.

I'm extremely happy to hear that Borders on Southside will not be one of the 200 locations that the company is closing. Jacksonville has a shortage of bookstores to begin with relative its size, and it would have been a real blow to lose Borders. If you guys haven't been out there in a while, check it out. They've done some really nice renovations in the last year or so, and I find it to be the most pleasant chain bookstore in the city.

Haven't been to that Borders in a while but always had a good experience there. I lived at the Avenue Royale apartments right behind it and my wife and I would walk there. They always had a great CD selection and carried alot of indie rock that was hard to find in J'Ville.

Looks like that Borders will be closing.

Man, if true, that is a real shame. When I called Borders this morning, the person I talked to said that corporate had called their store and told them that they would not be affected by the closings. A real shame.

Too bad. I read a NY Times article a few months ago about Borders. Seemed like a very poorly run company.
