Anybody know if the Shula's inside the Sheraton closed? I am on their email list and the one I got today is for the Tallahassee location as the default. When I clicked on the link in the email, the Jacksonville location is gone.

This is posted on the Jax restaurant web site while the phone number is "no longer in service".  I would say they are closed.

It is no longer a Shula's.  I think it is now known as Sheraton Grill, or something like that.

Shula's closed(it was pretty good for those that missed it, and they always had coupons on halfoffdepot.com), the Sheraton was just sold as a deed in lieu of foreclosure(it was just sold to a different operating group, it will still be operated under the Sheraton franchise), and the actual restaurant is now open as the 'Sheraton Grill'.

QuotePeople really cannot work everyday, is usually the reason.

The restaurant business has to be one of the hardest and most demanding ones going.  The hours and intensity are enough to make anyone throw in the towel.

Total admiration for those out there who manage to have great restaurants and a life at the same time.

Bulls Barbque on Baymeadows closed. The economy has just killed everybody. But with them I dont understand something. They closed at 5 and were not open on the weekend. however, they were ALWAYS packed. Why didnt they just extend their hours and open up on the weekend to close the gap financally?

Does anyone know if Tango Pizza on Baymeadows has closed?

They should have relocated to the Hyatt Downtown after Plaza III closed.

That would have been a great idea. Whenever I am at the Hyatt, I look at the empty space and think of the potential.

Crabcake Factory on Beach Boulevard near Penman Road closed this week.

There is a story in today's T-U about the owners of Crabcake not being able to come to terms with their landlord at lease renewal time.  They are going to re-open the Old Homestead according to the story.

Thank you, Dog Walker.  I enjoyed the Crabcake Factory and was disappointed to hear of its closing.  I hope that the owners will do a great job with the Homestead.

Sucks about the Crabcake. Their business seemed to be building recently. I did notice last night a sign on the Homestead about the Copper Top coming soon.

That was a very sloppy article.  Shame on the TU.  The 'not agreeing with the landlord' story is just that... a story.  And a laughable one at that.

Hey TU, this is how journalism is done.  Way to sugarcoat over an issue so you can trump up another story

I have been asking the Mayor and City Council Members the following questions:

1. Why are Businesses Closing in the City of Jacksonville.
2. Why are People Loosing there Jobs?
3. Why is the Unemployment Rate at it's highest?
4. Why is the Crime Rate at it' highest?  Some of which you do not here about.
5. WHY is there ALOT OF VACANT  BUILDINGS in the City of Jacksonville?

I tell you my thoughts is that The Mayor does not want to listen to the small business owners who does not have alot of money.  Mayor Peyton does not want to even come out to my store after 7 invitations via emails and also by voicing the invitations at the City Council Meetings, Planning Commissioner Meeting, LUZ Meetings.
I also invited the City Council Members and only 2 have showed up. On the first email sent was CW Glorious Johnson responded within a day of the email.  Then 3 months later CM Jones comes by the store.
CW Glorious Johnson is the only one who has showed support for the small business owners of this city and she has gotten answers for me. I could not even get the District 14 Councilman to return our phone calls or even come by to speak with us. Only his secretary called us back.

To me if a city official can not even make an attempt to help the small people of this city then they do not need to be holding a position in the political field.

My saying is that these officials needs to get off there LAZY BUTTS and get out in the COMMUNITY to talk to the people of this city instead of staying behind closed doors.   Even if it is not your district area go to other district areas to find out what is happening. Then you can be better off knowing what your co-workers is not doing and it can be addressed appropriately.

Just to let you know that there are 26 vacant locations from Roosevelt Blvd to the I-10 overpass along Edgewood Ave S. Why are they vacant.  Because they can not make it here in this city.

amen  and

26! in that small stretch is sad news

Blockbuster Video on Monument is closing... not that this is any great shock ,but its still bad to see yet another business fold.

I think most Blockbusters are closing, going to free-standing vending machines.
