^Sounds like an enforcement problem. Hit them up for a few tickets on Sunday and they'll repent and conform.

I never really thought of that. Lord knows I called the church a million times and complained. In the scheme of things, it was a really minor inconvenience. But boy did it irritate me!

Makes a lot of sense to turn empty buildings in Brooklyn into bars and nightclubs and restaurants.  I think that could be a great entertainment district.

We have the trolley, just need to get the damn JTA to run the thing on a regular basis.

What we really need to look at is Park Street on the backside of 220 Riverside. All those empty buildings, to use that space for more growth, it could become a great entertainment district to feed 220 and the projects going on there, and help with the load that 5-points is receiving, because there will come a time when people avoid the area due to lack of parking and we are going to see issues like the "striping" in 5-points and issues like we are seeing along King Street and with the residents.

I just saw a rendering on Steve William's Facebook page and it looks like the building will have a rooftop bar. This is going to be a GREAT project for the neighborhood. I tried to post the picture, but I don't know how to do that from my phone.

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Would someone mind posting the rendering?

Tacachale posted it.  If you're viewing it on a work comp, the image could be blocked.  I looked it up on my phone and it's visible.

Any update on when they are projected to be opening?

God I hope they keep the cheese curds on the menu...  8)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I think it looks good but only time will tell. Another rooftop bar would definitely start to put 5 points on the path towards being a nightlife destination.

As I'm involved in this project, I'll fill in some gaps.

@Rachel - it will absolutely fit the character of the strip, because it's not up to us. We have to work with the Preservation society and within their bounds. Believe me, there's stuff we'd like to do that would be amazing (that others in the past have been allowed to do), but they want to maintain that same storefront.

We should start buildout in about 45 days. We've been waiting for the owner to finish doing his part so that it's ready for us. As everyone knows, it's an old building; to do what we need to do in there required some extra engineering.

There will be a rooftop bar. It will be bad ass.

There will be cheese curds.

We will be working with artists from 5 Points for the interior artwork. As we get closer to that time, I'll appreciate any recommendations.

For people with parking hangups: we're trying to negotiate to get that big property behind the strip. We will have a back entrance as well, so ideally that will happen. If it does, it will be a huge benefit for the whole area.

Hope this helps.

To clarify for others, the regulations are from the JHPC, not RAP. RAP has no legislative authority.

Regardless, this project is awesome-saving a historic building AND who doesn't like a rooftop bar?

I would love some the five points venues to include a live music component.  Just some patio guitar singer songwriter types would be cool.

What property behind are you talking about?  Are you trying to buy it or negotiate to use it for parking?  There are noncontributing structures on Oak St. that could be demolished and in its place an appropriately designed parking garage for 5 Points==maybe with retail on the first floor.
