Just want to pass along some info about a string of home break-ins in the last several days around Cherry Street...one was the typical kick-in the back door during the middle of the day, but another occurred over the weekend where someone tried to break-in a house in the middle of the night, while the residents were sleeping...a bit scarier, in my opinion.

Keep your eyes out. JSO was out on our block last night, knocking on doors and letting the neighbors know what was going on.

Isn't Cherry Street in Avondale?

There was also a daytime break-in on the 2100 block of College St. last week.  Nothing was taken evidently because the burglar was scared off by the homeowner returning.

RAP has a neighborhood watch program. It should be expanded to include more of Riverside and avondale.

I don't believe Avondale technically begins until around McDuff.

Avondale's the 32205 zip code, so if somebody has a postal map that shows where 32204 ends and 32205 begins, that should show wherever the line actually is. Over the years, I've noticed that everybody has a conflicting viewpoint on what is and isn't Avondale, but I've never bothered to look it up.

King St. is the line dividing 32204 and 32205.

I think the original "Avondale" subdivision as developed by Stockton went from Seminole to Talbot and Roosevelt to the River.  There's an Urban Neighborhoods" thread on it from a while back:

As of 8:30 this morning, JSO is on the trail of the daylight burglar.  Tall, skinny black male was spotted leaving a house.  JSO is searching the area using K-9 west of King Street not far from I-10.

And, thanks to K-9, they caught him.  Now our little rash of burglaries is over if this guy is the one.  Go Dogs!

That was quick. Kudos, and pretty impressive.

Haven't looked at a map, but King being the area code cutoff makes sense. I am on Cherry and in the '05. West Riverside Elementary would also be in 'Avondale' (05). However, I still consider this more Riverside than Avondale. I'd say McDuff is probably the popular practical cutoff.
