It's gotta be that I like peace and quiet at night. I shut everything my room off, computer, television, cell phone, etc.. When the airshow is in town and at the base, I try and get to bed early that week so when I hear the Blue Angels roar over head, I won't be freaked out lol.

I remember as a kid, a friend from down the road came over and we got up on top of the house as the Blue Angels were practicing. As they would go by, each time, they'd throw up a hand and wave to us. We thought it was the neatest thing in the world, and they were THAT LOW in the sky that we could make it out so well!

Or it could just be that you're a Satan worshipping communist. How dare you make a minor complaint!

The sound of jet engines at 9 o'clock at night = freedom

It should be mandatory that anytime we see or hear a military aircraft, we must immediately stop whatever it is we're doing (even if its driving) and salute the flag.

And then you should post a picture of yourself doing just that.  Thank you for your continued participation.

Is now a bad time to mention Cecil Field's upcoming airshow?   8)

There would be plenty of pictures to post proving if people abide by this law once we get those much needed cameras installed throughout the city

Or you could move to a REALLY free country and enjoy the miracle of enlightened liberalism.  Europe is calling.  You can even wear your man purse there and people won't be laughing at you.

Of course...

Are the majority of people on this site incapable of discussing anything without classifying everyone into a specific political philosophy?

Good one about the man purse though, someone should follow you around with a drum set.

I'm sorry Bewler, I thought that you started the sarcasm in reply #16.  Just trying to keep up, thats all.  Seriously, just joking.  You are welcome to have opposing opinions, but you've gotta admit that smartass posts will draw smartass answers.

I was hoping that since my original smartass post wasn't directed to anyone in particular or intended as a malicious comment that it would draw a little humor.

I guess that'll teach me.

No offense intended sir.  It's just that I believe it is wrong to identify a group of people  and then assign them negative attributes because of that membership.  I prefer to point out individual cases of mistaken thinking.

First you said:

That sounds hippocritical to me.  Now, I could be mistaken, what do you think?  If you believe that the argument of tolerating a level of jet noise as a responsibility of citizenship is wrong, I'm OK with that.  But don't use sarcasm as a weapon or classify a ploitical philosophy and then cry foul when the tables are turned.

Thanks for the discussion, though and I appreciate your opinion.

Thanks for mentioning that. I posted a new thread in the westside section.

You're reading in to what I said too much.

Several people countered his complaint by inferring that it was unpatriotic
I humorously (at least to me) take that ridiculous comparison to the next level which you seemed bothered by

I wasn't flying a flag of liberalism into battle against the conservative outpost. I stand on neither side, and find it ridiculous when people pigeonhole themselves or anyone else into one specific viewpoint.

OK buddy, whatever you say.  I would just point out that there was some "inferring" done by you as well.  But, we are dragging out a minor point when we should be finding out more about that air show at Cecil!

Now we're talking

I actually love the sound of jets. I wish the airshows could somehow involve our planes in a simulated dogfight and a carpet bombing of a fake structure or ship.

I love 'em too.  And I have found the ability to put ordanance on target when we really, really needed it to be worth all kinds of admiration.  i'll always buy the combat pilot a drink, it's the least I can do.
