I always imagined Riverside / St Johns Avenue lands south to River retained as open space/ park.

Love that 1887 map! Taking a break looking for it online just to say so!
This is the first I've heard of Silvertown!! This is why I cringe when people say "pockets." I I hear it all the time living on the south west and west side my whole life: good pockets, bad pockets. It's just code and people don't even realize it. I used to say it myself until I learned. Now I get excited when I learn about a "pocket" because when people refer to a "bad pocket" it usually means HISTORY. And usually African American history that has been under researched and existed longer than the surrounding community. I get triple-dip excited when it's history that edges toward the west and southwest sides. So little documented and studied over here.

Too bad Silvertown did not have land use and zone, protective  "Overlay"  in place to guard against development forces that would transform to Riverside.

Would have been nice to have retained the McCoys Creek wetlands too......
