I'm left with the question of how these net worth's are arrived at. Not that I don't understand how to calculate net worth, but what are these folks including or not including (what are they required by law to include or what can they exclude). The link to Mike Williams' form fills in the blanks a bit. I also wonder how they might be manipulating the data to make themselves appear richer or poorer than they actually are (depending on what helps sell their image to their constituents).

I'm sure there are ways to not include/include whatever an official wants. Hazouri's house valued at $300.00 is either a mistake or it's not. Either way, his house is definitely worth more than $300

You understand net worth.

If all of your "assets," which includes cash in the bank, house, cars, bling...etc  adds up to $1,000

and you owe $300 to the bank for your house and cars

then, you have a net worth of $700.

$1000 (value of your stuff) - $300 (what you owe) = $700.00 (the remainder is your net worth)
