This month's resident has an article about a 5 story, 50 unit apartment building someone is planning to put in at 1444 Holmes St.  I haven't seen anything on it here.  Anyone have any more info?  The article makes it sound like it's very early on in the process.  It's on page 5.

Home St, not Holmes, for anyone else scratching their heads at where Holmes is. I haven't heard anything about it, but there are a couple of acres (combined) of empty lots behind Tidbits & the Home Street loft... great location other than being on top of I95. I'll have to look for the article.

Yeah my bad.  It would be a nice location except for 95 like you mentioned.  We'll see if anything comes out of it.

I would assume he isn't working on this all by his lonesome

He's been sitting on it for 12 years?  WOW.

One thing many Doctors do have is CASH. An important prerequisite for developing Real Estate.

From the article:

"We're moving forward, we just don't have anything definitive yet."

Sounds like San Marco Publix...................

The Home St side of that lot I think is far enough away from the freeway to not take away too much value.  Especially if the views are mostly directed the other way.  I wish them luck.

It seems like the Uptown at St Johns does pretty well despite overlooking the freeway. Just food for thought...

The Fountains Uptown in Charlotte is a new project that is right smack up against the freeway.  These projects are doing fine in many cities across the country.

Yeah, I don't imagine location will be a problem here.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

blfair

I don't mean to say it will make the project unsuccessful. The location is good enough that being near the highway won't matter. Few people would seek out a place where you can hear the road out your window, but there's no shortage of folks who will tolerate it in trade for other features.

Is "workforce housing" a euphemism for "rent control"?

Pretty sure it means "workforce housing".
