New pub/waffle eatery opening up in Murray Hill.
Check them out, sounds like a very cool place.
They need community support.

Why must start-ups in core-city neighborhoods have to go to battle with the city over things like this?  This kind of bureaucracy is what stifles growth.  Density is what's needed.  Let businesses get up and going and figure out how to best accommodate their target market.

Why is everything a "pub" now? Is this a general trend across the US (calling places that serve alcohol and food "pubs") or is it more of a Jacksonville thing?

It's not just the city, it's also fellow merchants and landlords.  And it is always about parking and alcohol.  If they were opening up an old lady hat shop, they would be open now, no issues.  They would be out of business in 6 months, but whatever...

it's about 10 years old the second wave gastro Pub movement, so yes just coming to Jax now.

Used to be "pubs" were themed - like Irish or British or whatever. I think I remember once seeing one referred to as an American pub or something. But it was odd to see the term used unless it was referring to a themed bar/restaurant.

The whole "gastropub" thing is a bit ridiculous anyway, I think.

I'd be super excited to have another business open in Murray Hill. "Pub," "Gastropub," whatever!

However, gourmet waffles is a tough sell for me.

sorry - didn't mean to imply i had an issue with the business (i don't). it was just a general question. gourmet waffles certainly is an original choice of offering.

I've been very excited about this and know she is nervous about getting everything approved, so I hope everyone shows support (I don't think this will be a problem)  8)

How likely is it that the parking exemption is granted?

I prefer Tavern...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I'm very excited for waffles and beer!
There is another store front in that same strip that also has a public notice sign. By chance does anyone know what might be going in the second building? I believe its right next to the old yoga studio which is now Momni alterations and boutiques. I'm just curious ;)

I would think it should be smooth unless there is public outcry (a la mellow mushroom) but thats just me being logical and naive to the way our city actually works.

I thought Momni is up near Post. This is the strip down by Moon River, and I think they are moving into the four vacant units.

Momni is moving right beside the new black hat vape.
They just got a new sign painted onto the brick building a couple of days ago. It looks nice.

That makes sense to me, the waffle place sounds pretty big :).
