We should find out soon enough. If this thing is to open before next season's training camp, construction needs to start ASAP.

With the Curry admin, that city money faucet that Khan is used to will run dry like the Mojave desert. It comes to a point where enough is enough. I'm speaking as a person that loves the renovations to Everbank Field.

I will believe that when I see it

*Very* true, Ennis. I'm definitely curious to see what they can go ahead and get started on (hopefully an indoor facility very similar to what the Cowboys are doing) but disappointed we can't charge hard, overall, with The Shipyards project. As Khan has said, he is zeroing in on controlling that which he can conceivably control, and as he has hinted, he's hopeful the city will eventually catch up with him and move forward. This fretting about city-contributed money . . . I mean, get real people.

This is a good read on Roger Goodell and the NFL from the Washington Post; Shad is influential, and that's very good for us:

Give this man what he needs and get the heck out of the way.

As this is "mostly his money" and this is a public stadium, the issue is more permission to build on the stadium property and who retains ownership rights, similar to The Landing. My guess is the public money is more for infrastructure; power, water, sewer, roads, sidewalks, etc.

This is how I understand it as well. The property in question is city owned, but per Amendment 13 of the lease, the land is considered Demised Premises (i.e. transferred to the Jaguars to do with as they see fit for the duration of the lease). My guess is that the Jaguars will probably be willing to front most of the cost for building the facility, but will expect the city to pay for maintenance, upkeep, and necessary infrastructure improvements. Per Amendment 13, if there are sporting events at the stadium (like Florida/Georgia), the visiting teams would have access to the new training facility the day before the game. Wording is vague, but I believe the Jags would have the right to sell naming rights and ad-space for the new facility, and keep the proceeds.

^Auld & White did Moxie at the Town Center, as well as the Jax Chamber of Commerce renovation.

Auld and White is doing the Intuition Ale renovation at Bay and Randolph for about that much.

It would be nice if they use the IPF as a multi-purpose building rather than just for practices like many schools are doing across the country. VIP tailgating at least would be nice.

That's the address for Everbank Center, not Everbank Field.  Everbank Field is on East Bay Street, which actually turns into Gator Bowl Blvd by that point.

It probably has something to do with getting the building ready for Citizens Property Insurance. In recent weeks, they've been working on the elevator banks and other tenant improvements.

Update, courtesy the FTU:

Quote"We've been talking to the city and we've got the plans pretty much [fleshed] out," Khan said. "I'm super excited. There are a number of things — redoing the club, the practice facility, and other amenities in the complex — that would serve the community and generate revenue.

"The important thing is, we're talking to the city. We need them to sprinkle the holy water and then we'll be able to start."

Last month, Khan said he would pay for the indoor practice facility primarily himself. The going rate for a facility is $30 million. Asked Thursday if he remains intent on kicking in at least $20 million to help the project along, Khan said: "When it's all said and done, our contribution will be significantly higher than that. Significantly higher."

The Jaguars don't own the stadium or the land around it so an agreement with the city must be reached before construction begins.

"We have to get the right to build on somebody else's land and we would certainly want control over the [facility]," Lamping said. "We view it as serving all of the needs of the football team, but also see it as a multipurpose building that could be used for other events, football- and not-football-related, as long as it doesn't conflict with the team's needs."

Lamping said the ideal scenario is for the Jaguars to begin construction on the club-seat area and the indoor practice facility this off-season.

LOL, I love this quote. I also see the completion date is much more realistic now.

Ha, yeah, funny how that happens.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?
