THAT DEFENSE.

Who are you telling.. Im a defense guy. Dont care much for offense, just put up point so we can win. But I live for defense. That defense front this year seems to be the most potent weve seen. And to make it better, all of those guys are young except for Red and Chris. Even with that, those two seem to have a few more years in them. Once the secondary really comes together, its going to be something serious.

PS is anyone else considered about Gratz? His play is very up and down and seems to always get beat. Ive noticed teams pick on him a lot. They rarely go to McCrays side of the field. If Colvin out plays him next year, he may be seeing the bench.

You know... I guess I'm just going to quote the company line and state the obvious:

All the praise given to the outstanding play of our d-line while the rest of the team around it has a lot to be desired is deserved, but it is also the ONLY GROUP ON THE TEAM with any combined experience and ne'er a rookie playing.

Keep feeding the system through drafting well and then that will become the standard and not the exception.

Gratz's play is up and down, and Colvin looks like he can play the part.  This is a good thing.  If you have 2 CBs fighting over a starting position while the other is already locked up, then that just makes the team stronger.  It also puts us in great shape when we shift into nickel coverage and all 3 are on the field at once.

Has anyone else also noticed that without Poz, our LB group hasn't missed a beat?  Another great thing.  Not sure if he'll be back next year (contract gurus can help me out here - I  know he's on the tailend of a pretty substantial deal, so I would imagine a re-structure is imminent as most are backloaded), but let's just assume yes and he plays on primary running downs and subs in and out with Thomas...

Baby steps, guys, and although it's tough to see, they're at least baby steps forward.

Out of curiosity, do anyone count the London game as a 'home game' I know technically that it is, but I'm sorry I don't count it. We are 2-3 at home LOL.

Cf. last year, when we did not score a TD in the first three home games against KC, Indianapolis, and SD and then finally did in the London game...there was debate over whether to call it the first home touchdown of the season.

Poz (9.5m) and Marcedes (8.4M) are our two highest cap figures next year. I honestly think we could move on from both of them.  If they are cut there is also only 3.4m in dead cap money total for both, which is not that much considering our cap space availability.  So that could free some big time money up if they really wanted to go for a marquee type FA.  But really still early to even know who hits the market. Also, with our space availability they just may hold on to both for the veteran precense we lack.

Nope, if I can't drive my arse down to the stadium and plop it down in Section 205 it is no home game.

Disagree on Poz. Unless you find a high draft pick (which will cost more) that provides just as much leadership and work ethic that he does. Can you think of any FA that will be available next year that could fill that roll?

Lewis is a harder call. Did well under Gerrard but terrible under Gabbert and has been injured again. He will probably get an offer sheet, reject it for another teams offer and leave.

WarDamJagFan

Helluva game Sunday. And I'm going to pat us Jags fans on the back. We know our team overall isn't exactly what one would consider playoff material. But, attendance has been VERY good so far. We've benefited some from having teams like the Steelers and Giants with large fan bases here to fill in the extra seats, but that stadium was alive in the second half.

But to follow up on some of the points/questions from previous posts:

Sen'Derrick is playing at an absolute freakish level on the interior. And I agree, it would be criminal for him not to get an invitation to the Pro Bowl.

I'm not too concerned with Gratz yet. He's a pretty good open field tackler and aggressive at the line of scrimmage. Some of the times he's gotten burned have also been because of coverage confusion thinking he'd get help over the top. He's got some work to do, but definitely not someone I'm worried about at this point.

Poz will be back. He's a tackling machine on first and second down. Sub in the quicker guys like JT and George for passing situations, but Poz is a leader and I don't see them letting go of him quite yet. We've got plenty of cap space even if we keep him.

FS is still an issue as Josh Evans is decent, but he still looks lost out there more than your starting FS should. I predict the Jags to make a play on a veteran FS - someone like Devin McCourty out of NE (a former 1st rounder) who is still relatively young (27) but solid player. Perhaps another prominent LB, C, or OT as well in FA as Kahn hinted they will be big spenders this year.

Just looked up the other pictures and WOW! I sat in that section earlier this season and can say it definitely is in need of an upgrade. I can't wait for this to come to fruition. Jax is about to have a world class venue... Now we just need to line up some more world class events!

^^^That looks awesome. I decided that I don't like the idea of the proposed enclosing of EverBank Field with the dome or retractable roof. Enclosing stadiums even with retractable roofs gives that dreary sun-starved Edward Jones Dome/Tropicana Field look.

Even when large skylights are added to enclosed stadiums with retractable roofs, there is still nothing like a true open air stadium. I know that those September games are pretty brutal, but I'm willing to sacrifice that in contrast to watching a game in a vacuum chamber.
