Would folks prefer that Bortles be sacked 10 times?

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are two of the best ever, neither one is very mobile. They are successful because

they have excellent offensive lines, and don't spend the game running for their lives or flat on their backs.

Until we get solid offensive line play it does not matter who is QB, they are not going to be very successful.

Demanding Bortles is a desperate fan base grasping at straws because their season is dangerously close to coming completely off the rails, if it hasn't already, two games in. Last year was supposed to be rock bottom, but yesterday had to be one of the worst all-around team performances in NFL history, no exaggeration. Bortles can't fix a broken team, but without that hope, there's really nothing left in the short-term.

Has there ever been a QB that the fans been happy with here? I have heard bench the starter, get a new QB ect. since the beginning of the franchise.

You must be a newbie to the franchise! Welcome! Actually Gabbert was the first one that really got those comments. No QB pleases everyone, but Brunell (1995-2002) was awesome; Leftwich (2003-2005) was okay; Garrard (2006-2010) was my personal favorite in the beginning but he did start to wane in 2010 season. However, just like a week before we were to start the 2011 regular season, the Jaguars announced that Garrard was going to Miami and newly drafted Gabbert would be our starting QB. With no NFL experience whatsoever and after spending all preseason training the team with Gabbert driven plays, this was a decision the team is still trying to recover from.

my favorite overlay from yesterday's broadcast was the one in the 2nd quarter that said "Total Yards:   Washington 256, Jacksonville 1"

Been with the franchise since day one My cousin has been the scout for the team since the beginning of the team.

I would have to dig deep into it, but I remember being at games all the way back steve beuerlein. I did however move away in 01 when Brunnell was there. I got a glimpse or 2 of Leftwich on TV and Gerrard a couple times. My grandmother was a season ticket holder from conception all the way to 2009 when she passed away so I heard all the complaints she had, which usually stemmed from what she saw at games and what people around her were saying. Guess we just have a different perspective on it.

I personally really liked Brunnell he was/is still my favorite QB I have watched play from my time period.

That was bad press right there indeed. I Kind of chuckled at it, but I however did not like Tiny Gonzalez' comment on the team. totally uncalled for.

Esiason got in on it to.

But that is where we are right now with the Jaguars.

A joke.

Marino was immobile, never had a decent RB to play with and Tom Olivadotti's defense was the worse I've ever seen in my 37 years on Earth. Nevertheless, much of Marino's success was due to his quick release and clock within his head. So I wouldn't necessarily buy into the idea that any QB would have been taken down 10 times yesterday because of a below average line.  I'm not saying Bortles is Marino either.  However, right now what's being put out there on Sunday is about as bad as it gets for a NFL level team.  It can't get much worse.  I give the Jags about two more weeks of horrible loses before Bortles is baptized by fire.

You're right but I think to many, Bortles represents hope. Right now, that doesn't exist.

Very disappointing to say the least. I was really hoping to see some kind of improvement this season. Bortles can't save the team alone. They have got to get it together. I only will get to make it to two games this year and I at least want to enjoy them!

I think when the O-line and recievers are playing better and more comfortable with their assignments, BB5 will start. I really hope the team is not winless before the London game again. So much excitement built up during the off season only to be crushed by the team's performance.

While we've all been busting on the O-Line (and deservedly), I saw in a BCC article that Gus has been riding the asses of the WR corps due to 'double digit' errors.  These are the one's that we typically don't see or wouldn't know unless we knew the play called.

Crap like this, from Gus Bradley's conference call today, is getting really old. If Bortles isn't ready, or if you aren't comfortable putting him out there with our existing o-line and WRs, fine, everyone might not agree with you (93% don't, per today's BCC poll), but at least it's somewhat logical. But PLEASE stop telling me that Chad Henne is playing well. It's patronizing. You don't have to throw the guy under the bus when there's plenty of blame to go around, but don't preach accountability to Jags fans out of one side of your mouth while praising Henne out of the other. With the start that the Jags are off to after years of quarterback hell, no one wants to hear it.

QuoteBradley says Henne has played well

http://espn.go.com/blog/jacksonville-jaguars/post/_/id/8072/bradley-says-henne-has-played-well

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It doesn't sound like the Jacksonville Jaguars were close to benching starting quarterback Chad Henne.

Coach Gus Bradley said Monday that Henne was going to start Sunday's home opener against Indianapolis, but for the first time left a little wiggle room. However, the Jaguars announced on Wednesday morning that Henne would definitely start, and after reading what Bradley had to say on an conference call with the Indianapolis media, it doesn't appear as if Henne really was in any danger of losing his job.

Here's his quote from the transcript.

Bradley: "You know what, he's brought really good strength to our team. I know the guys really rely on him, his leadership. I felt like during OTAs and training camp and the season, he's done some things that we've asked him. We've challenged him to raise his level of game and I think he's really responded. He had a great offseason and when we got into the season, I think the first half against Philadelphia he played really well. The second half and this past game that we've played, when he wasn't under pressure, he performed very well. He's just been a great leader for us and I think a great strength for our guys."

Keith-N-Jax

Yep, on the Jaguars message board you would think the world was coming to an end. The team is young and there will be growing pains. Problems is that the fan base is so starve for better performance they are forgetting this is a new staff and we are in the midst of a total rebuild. Its just very tough to watch lol.

PeeJayEss

So Chad Henne is not very good, as we all knew. His performance is as expected. Why do we act all surprised when he plays and the Jags lose? So now we want to throw Bortles in there and destroy him like we do to every other quarterback? The Jags aren't going to the playoffs this year, so why screw up Bortles' head by having him get his ass kicked all season? I wouldn't play him in this offense even if Henne went down.

Though, Bortles probably isn't the answer either, but I'd be happy to eat those words.
