I'm sorry, but getting rid of Florida-Georgia is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Especially if it's based on both teams being temporarily on "hard times"; the series has been here for 80 years! Those games draw over 80,000 people and generate millions in income for the city. Come on.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

^And the 80,000 is just butts in seats. That doesn't even count the additional ~200,000 in the Urban core watching in the parking lots, bars, restaurants, hotels etc.

With that train of thought we may as well destroy half the city because "it is on hard times"  :o

And since when have both teams been on "hard times"? Granted yes, Florida had an awful season last year but won 10 games the previous year while UGA was in the SEC Title game two years ago.

OMG can we get back to talking about Jaguars football. I hate when the threads go left UGH ::)

Perhaps a mod can move this tangent to a separate thread.

IT'S GAME DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Aside from how Bortles looks I'm going to keep an eye on the run game. I want to see someone really step up to the plate in the run game.

Also, I want to see how our pass rush/pass defense looks as well. This will be the best defense we've faced so far in the preseason.

All around, I'm excited for tonight! Go Jags!

Am I the only one who wishes they'd play away games at the stadium? Is there a legal reason they can't do this?

The league don't allow them to.

The NFL hates fun.

Also, I'm curious about this situation in Pittsburgh. Shouldn't the two running backs be facing the same suspension that Ace Sanders received? From what I've been reading it sounds like they aren't going face any backlash. Does anyone know more about this?

Well its been notated on Big Cat country and nfl.com that the running game is an issue with the Offensive Line, not the running backs. They have been effective at pass blocking, but have been terrible at run blocking. If they block effectively, we should see some more action in the run game. Som backs can still make plays with bad run blocking, but as of right now I dont think we have that. Robinson is good on the outside, Todman is only good if the line is blocking, and I havent seen enough of Toby to form an opinon yet.

Those two Pittsburgh players are not facing any punishments yet because their discretions happened relatively recently as opposed to when Ace and Justin had their initial run-ins.

Today, I'll be looking forward to how the offense utilizes Denard Robinson. There was an interesting article last year about how Caldwell used certain figures and metrics not normally measured by scouts to warrant drafting him when they did and how to best utilize his tools and skills. If he can hold on to the ball better I think his presence can give defenses some headaches.

League punishment generally isn't handed down until after all the off-field legal ramifications have been resolved. Ace Sanders didn't break any laws by failing a drug test, so there was no need to wait.

Ball security has not been an issue for him this offseason. Last year he pretty much dropped everything, including in training camp. If Im not mistaken, he has dropped and/or fumbled anything yet, not even in practice. He seems to be fine

Not a good night.  Some injuries that could prove costly.
