Bortles has given us some reason for excitement. He is still young and will make mistakes, but light years ahead of Gabbert. Did anyone happen to see him playing with the 49ers yesterday? New team, same Gabbert.

He was horrible.  I loved the comment by the SF announcer Tim Ryan. They were showing their new video boards and he commented how impressive they were as then added if only Gabbert was 10% as impressive.  Zing!!

I know we have only seen a glimpse of Gerhart, but please no more sweep plays involving him. He is a work horse between the tackles back. I really hope someone steps up to the plate to help provide some speed around the edge. Personally, from what I've seen from Denard, I hope he gets more reps the remainder of the preseason. I haven't been impressed with Todman at all.

And lets not forget, Gerhart doesnt have a whole lot of experience, especially as a starter. That's just something he needs to work. Im not hitting the panic button yet. And Todman aggravates. He is always slipping and falling to the turf. I dont know whats up with that.

Side note: Now they are saying the Starting QB situation not set in stone and their giving bortles every opportunity to make their decision difficult. Well duh!

I can understand everyone's excitement, but he has only played against 2nd and 3rd string defenses that are running basic schemes due to lack of experience with their teams.

I would like to see him lineup against a first string D running a nickel package or a scheme where they feign the weak side DB and red dog.

This will force him to check down further and faster in the pocket.

I think part of the excitement is that the throws he is making are not easy throws. He looks comfortable back there. And he is showing his athletic ability in the pocket.

I know it's against backups but it's easy to see why people are excited.

Good news for the Jags, the franchise value increased to 965 million (29th in the NFL). The Detroit Lions value is at 960 million (30th); Buffalo Bills at 935 million (31st), and St Louis Rams at 930 million(32nd). The Bills and Rams are in the process of being sold; When is that gonna happen, who knows?

St Louis kind of showed up the Rams by having a study done showing that the EJ Dome would make more money by not having it tied up for 10 NFL events a year. Basically telling the Rams that their upgrade demands had no clothes.

My understanding is that the Bills are modeling their sale after what Weaver had done with the Jags. A "stay in town" clause to protect the community and provide more options with a stadium if the city chooses that route.

I think the Bills are in good shape. There's only one ownership group that would certainly move the team (the Bon Jovi Toronto group) and the others are circling the wagons against them. There are at least two series bidders, the Pegulas and Tom Golisano, who would almost certainly keep the team in Buffalo. Even Trump would keep the team there if he were to buy it.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I keep reading that the Rams are being sold. When did this come about?

The Rams are currently in an argument with the STL Convention Center about a clause in the agreement. The clause states that the dome has to be rated as a "top ten" NFL venue.

The Authority spent 13 million in response to the clause just 5 years ago. The Rams are now saying it falls outside the top ten again and wants more upgrades.

The Authority had an audit done and found not only was the venue competent, it met and exceeded some expectations of the agreement.

So the Rams ownership made noise about moving the team and the city showed them the agreement in lieu of the top ten clause. As long as it is in the 10, they can't leave.

So now the ownership has made noise about selling and the Authority did another audit that found that due to restrictions in their Rams agreement, they would be better off if the Rams left and opened up the convention space for more conferences and concerts.

So officially they aren't selling, it's just part of the poor relationship the Rams have had with the city since the Rosenbloom's divested their interests.

Their whole stadium situation seems to had been a mess from the beginning. Thats not even really a stadium.

Let me add that the Rams can leave if they want, they would have to compensate the STL Convention Authority for all of the upgrades they did in good faith in response to their needs.

So say if LA made a pitch to woo the Rams back the owners would probably expect LA to pay STL that termination fee and it would be significant.  This is why the Rams keep trying to say STL is in breach of the contract....so they can skip town at no cost.

Or if a new ownership wants the team and move it, they will have to come up with the dollars to sever the contract with STL.

If that statement is true, then why don't we have that group managing our stadium(s) instead of SMG?
