Honestly, the best burger I've ever had in Jax wasn't at a burger place. Got it from the French Pantry on Powers Ave..

French Pantry is so awesome on so many levels. We tried to interview them but they're so busy already that they politely told us they "want to keep things low key." Who the heck says that? The restaurant business is a very hard one and yet French Pantry has a lineup every day in the baking sun! I asked owner Tim Felver why nobody else has been able to copy what he's doing. He thought about it but didn't have a real answer. He acknowledged that Jacksonville has a lot of great chefs but couldn't put his finger on why nobody has been able to replicate what he's doing. He's had offers to build out a French Pantry in Ponte Vedra but he's refused - he's worked hard for decades and doesn't need the aggravation / money. We tip our hats to Tim and this great restaurant he's built.
