The Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are the first team in the NFL to offer non-traditional premium seating like cabanas, four-top tables and on the rail. And it looks like they are all selling fairly well.

In the next few years, I think you will see a lot of teams follow their lead.

So, with the removal of 9,500 seats for the North end Zone cabanas, etc, does that mean there will be no tarps at all this year on the upper decks?

pierre

There will be two. Both on the westside of the stadium, the side least shown on television. The two on the east upper deck will be gone, as will the one in the NEZ.

The team can remove the two on the westside for any game. I think that would be a safe bet for the games against New York and Pittsburgh at least.

Did they think that the jags would allow 65,000 people in the pool??

That would be a great pool party!

So much for the maximum capacity sign.

I agree. It was super smart. Theyve bascially removed seats that werent selling, and replaced them with a higher premium option that is selling. And also took care of the capcity issue at the same time.  Since article are now just circulating about the renovations, comments from fans of other teams have been rather positive. I cant to until they renovate the club seat area as well. Seems like a little outside the box thinking is going to pay off.

Agreed. According to the Jags, the roof cover thing is a higher priority for the team than the club renovations. I'm pretty sue the 55,000 non-club fans would agree.

Stephen Colbert on his 'Sport Report' had a bit about the Jags stadium upgrades. Ya'll know me, I'm one of the diehard defenders of the Jags, but I have to give Colbert a pass with this one, pretty damn funny, LOL

I saw on Jaguars message board that 65% of the cabanas were sold. I would really like to see the official numbers. Also Nascar is also talking about hosting a preseaso game. I think that would be cool once the London gig is up.

edjax

The 65% was per Chad Johnson of the Jags so should be official with waiting lists for 3 games already.

It's also quoted in the article that I posted a few days ago.  Just remember the 65% refers to the 50 person package, and there are only 8 cabanas.  8 cabanas * 9 games * 65% = 46 units sold out of 72 available.  I'm guessing that the November / December packages aren't exactly in a bidding war.  ;D

That being said, the package itself isn't too bad.  $250/person gets you a cabana with pool access and is an inclusive package that includes food / beverage / beer / wine.  Liquor isn't part of it, but all in all it's not too bad.

Yeah not to bad considering they have sold that many already. Stadium should look awsome on TV, cant wait to experience it first hand.

As I recall two of the games with waiting lists. Giants (11/30) and Texans (12/7).  So that bodes well as I see earlier games selling too with the heat. Of course the other game sold out is the Steelers.  Are sure the 65% only refers to the larger ones?  I thought they said cabanas and regardless of size they are all considered cabanas, just the larger ones have access to the pools.

I just went back and re-read the article and I guess my recall isn't as accurate as I thought.

The 65% is for all of the cabanas, so you're correct there.  The 50% number is the total of the sales that are the large, 50 person cabanas.  Either way, they seem to be selling.  And I'm sure that they'll appear a helluva lot better to anyone watching at home than a large Web.com banner across the back.

^^agree on that web.com tarp. That one was the most visible and disturbing since in the lower bowl.
