Hey everybody,
I've been dropping by MJ from time to time for awhile.  Just want to say I'm looking forward to this weekend, it's my first USMNT game.  I'm also looking forward to the pre-game party at Lynch's the night before.
I have a question.  My brother and I are staying at the Wyndham Riverside Friday night.  Is the water taxi to the stadium available Saturday?  Or should we drive across early to find parking?

Thanks

The water taxi ceases operations this Friday due to a contract dispute with the city. Awful timing.
Darn.  Thanks for the info.

Stay tuned. Apparently the city plans to operate its own water taxis beginning Saturday morning. No word on the routes and times but cost will be the same.

Bring your ponchos - rain and perhaps thunder forecast.

ticket sales have surpassed the SE US record of 44,438 set at the 2012 friendly vs. Scotland.  50k would be great, beating Philly's 55k seems a big hurdle.  Let's hope the weather holds off.

Does anyone know if the JTA shuttles will be running tomorrow?  I seem to remember the wait for the water taxi after the Scotland match was about an hour, I would anticipate it to be longer tomorrow and maybe in a little disarray.

Seems to be a lot of excitement here....I don't see any coverage anywhere else though.

Like beyond ESPN? They've been talking about it and will air the game live.

fsquid

guess I'll have to go a bit early to get on street parking.

For those of you interested in the water taxi, I talked several times with the Water Taxi CEO and he tried to extend service to include this weekend but could not get an extension of their insurance. I spoke with Councilman Redman last night as well, and the city is scrambling to purchase two boats for this weekend, but he told me it was not finalized and that the boats would need to be brought in from out of town. If it works out the plan will be pretty last minute since they don't yet have the boats, captains for them, routes, or fares. Its a shame Jacksonville can step up and deliver close to 50K fans for the game but then something like this happens. It will be a great time either way, we might just have a harder time getting there than we should.
It's time to move past being a city with potential, and become a city living up to it's potential.

Can you walk over the main street bridge with all the traffic?

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Or bike?
you can definitely walk across the bridge, there are nice pedestrian walkways on both sides. you can probably walk your bike?  not sure about riding across

Tacachale

^I mean, with all the construction there lately they've closed down the pedestrian section, at least periodically.

fsquid

yes, I meant with the construciton going on, not the traffic.  My bad

On the Main Street Bridge, only the eastern pedestrian path (Crowne Plaza to Hyatt) is closed for construction.  The western path (MOSH to Landing) is still open.
