P.S. I think the Jags picked up a lot of new fans in Orlando tonight.

I can vouch for this. It's definitely getting positive play in Orlando. I have a lot of family friends down there and basically all of them are excited about this move, one is even buying tickets (for this among other reasons). None of them are UCF alums, all diehard Gators. It's a good sign and hopefully it keeps up - IF he doesn't flop.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Just saw this quote from Caldwell on MMQB.

Quote"This is not a quick journey and a race to the end. This is something we want to build for a long term," Caldwell said. "Johnny [Manziel] is a heck of a player, but I felt like Johnny's game wasn't going to change a lot from year one to year two. We felt like Blake has some development from year one to year two, and this first year is going to be critical for him to develop. With Johnny, he is always going to be Johnny. He's always going to be electric, he's going to be dynamic and he's a great player. But for our system and what we want to do offensively, we felt Blake was the best fit.

"We have a plan going forward. We talked at length with our coaching staff. Not only during the season but out of the season and how he's going to take some extra reps after practice, get extra coaching, extra seven-on-seven and team reps and stuff like that to really have him develop. ...We're all on the same page. Our owner, Shad Khan, our president, Mark Lamping, myself, Gus Bradley, the coaching staff, this is the plan we set in place. It's not something we're just springing on our coaches now, and then the Thursday before the opening game I'm not going to say he's got to play. That's not going to happen. We are all on the same page from ownership all the way down."

THIS.

This is what I'm hoping for our team.  I've always 'understood' that the backup QB is always the fan favorite, but with my extiensive background and well developed sense of players' future abilities (coaching T-ballers  ;D ), I understand the need to develop players at their pace.  Maybe it takes a year for him to be 'The Guy', maybe 2...   Maybe he never becomes IT, but you have to have the plan in place to allow for it.

I'm not completely sold on Gabbert being a bust.  He also had all of the 'measureables'.  He also had a 'plan' when he was drafted.  Well....  we all saw first hand what happens when things don't go to plan.  Sometimes they work out really well, Brady, sometimes they don't.  That's why my true hope, first and foremost, is continuity.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Called it. F'n jackpot! Marquise Lee is a top 10 talent. Huge pick.

Mayock called it a bonanza for the franchise.

Perfect pick. I know they were going to get him

^^^I was just hoping that no one (notably Cleveland with the Blackmon-esque Josh Gordon in trouble) wouldn't get Marqise Lee. I'm so glad that we got him!!! The Jags wasted no time making that selection!  ;D

Jags apparently tried trading up for Lee, couldn't make it happen and he still fell to them. Big break for the franchise. Khan looked like he just got the Shipyards for free in the war room. Haha.

Them boys from Duval rolling strong tonight!

Marquise Lee + Allen Robinson = EPIC second round for the Jags.

I still think we took Bortles a little too high, but when you look at what we did in the first two rounds, you really can't ask for much more.

I was never worried. The new regime knows what they are doing. The Bortles picked shocked me because I honestly completely forgot about him LOL but Im again loving what they are doing this year. This is how you build a team. Maybe its a just me, but I just feel really fun about the team. I really think were going to be good. Im secretly screaming like a school girl..

UPDATE*** we just traded up and got a guard..yeaaaaaaa*****

Fantastic day for the Jags.

Terrifies me to think of what Gene Smith would have done with these picks.

Has anyone heard anything about how Luke Joeckel's recovery is going?

He's doing well. According to the February article below, Joeckel may make the OTAs and is on track to make training camp.

ESPN draft academy is showcasing the training experience of Bortles and Lee, over the last few months, now.

^Good show. Lee had to use a walk on QB at his pro day and the guy looked terrible. He also had horrible QB play at USC this year, a joke of a coach that got fired mid-season, and was held back by an injury. He finished 4th in the Heisman after his sophomore year, which is the WR equivalent of winning it (WR's get no love in the Heisman). He probably would have been a top 5-10 pick if he had been able to to go pro last year. I think it's an MJD type franchise changing draft choice.

Feel a lot better about the Bortles pick after the show.
