So will this event be called "Mayor Brown Presents Paul McCartney?"

BridgeTroll

sooo... I was pretty close with Jackson and Elvis...  :)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I'm outside my realm a little bit here. Does this mean we'll be drawing visitors in from all over FL? That is a good thing.

Absolutely. When it comes to big shows like this, there are people that travel from all over to see the act. A lot of people even plan a vacation around it. So they may look at McCartney's tour and pick the spot they would most like to visit. I saw U2 in Miami a couple years ago and met people that had traveled from Brazil and Europe for the show/vacation. I was in Vegas last summer while the Stones were playing and ran into people that traveled there without tickets just in the hope of getting them...and of course to have fun in Vegas.

I'll tell you all this. It will be a very hard ticket to get. Ticket brokers will be all over it, along with the public. Jack Johnson tickets sold out instantly for the St. Johns Amphitheater, which was also the only Florida date for him. I got tickets, but don't know anyone else that did...and yea I'm not afraid to admit I enjoy the mellow sounds of JJ.

I don't mind a little Jack Johnson. As someone with small children, he is one of the few acts I can listen to with my kids and don't have to worry. I had thought about going to his show but I think tickets were already sold out before they were even open to the general public.

It appears to be his only show in Florida, so expect a good amount of people to come in from Orlando, Tampa, and Miami.

More tour dates are being announced soon, so I wouldn't be shocked to see an Orlando or Tampa show added on the 24th.

That said, this is a really nice get for Jacksonville.

Tickets are going to be extremely difficult to come by.

Just being a smart ass of course. Definately not historic, but a positive for Jax. Hopefully this will lead to us getting some other major acts

Its historic as far as concerts go. You appear to have dismissed my earlier post stating that The Beatles are the greatest act of the 20th Century as merely opinion. Well when virtually everyone holds the same opinion, it pretty much becomes an accepted fact. The Beatles have the #1, #3, #5, #10, #14,  albums of all time according to Rolling Stone's Top 500 albums list, which was voted on by other musicians, producers, journalists, etc. Yes Rolling Stone sucks, but its a fairly accurate list.

Perhaps you need to brush up on your music history.

Yeah, one big reason why Michael Jackson's estate is worth so much!

Or perhaps I can be entitled to my own opinon. Sorry that bothers you so much.

Steve

I would tend to agree about it not being historic. This is not to take anything away from Sir Paul McCartney, who is an amazing performer. Now, if you said it would be his last concert ever, agreed. However, to be one stop on the tour, I fail to see the historic here.

funwithteeth

Per Wikipedia, since 2002, Paul McCartney—by the time this tour ends—will have played nearly 300 shows. He has toured regularly in the 21st century. This is not historic.

But it is nice for Jacksonville and his fans.
