I think RCM will be just fine until a newer competitor opens up.

I can't foresee anything opening up to the scale of RCMP on the Northside.

It's like if a kid got arrested, the parent would automatically blame the police for unnecessarily force. it's getting stupid.

I agree. There was one (out of five) parent that wasn't in denial, and didn't blame everything on JSO.

Give it another decade or so and there will probably be something similar proposed for Nassau County.  By the same token, let another decade or so pass and you'll see something that will compete with SJTC proposed for St. Johns County.  It's a 60 year old development pattern here.

^^and more crap like this will only hasten that development n Nassau county.

More likely, sprawl towards/in Nassau and the eventual aging of RCM will. It's inevitable.  Regency is a success because it's taken +40 years to get to where it is today. With most centers, they decline by year 20.

Of course it will eventually.  But you don't believe if a business owner has to go in lockdown mode a few times they aren't going to be looking for some convenient sprawl a little quicker?

It's not just the Northside of JAX, what about the riot that took place at JAX beach on Memorial Day and the other one that took place at Walmart on Lem Turner.........becoming a common theme for JAX, all of these incidents went viral on national news......

I overheard an interesting conversation among some white folks at the Ortega River Club.
They professed to be among Jacksonville's ignorant white population- they were still living here!

By the way, "Melee" is magnificent word crafting, creative.

The riot in 5 Points a few years ago didn't seem to hurt it. Nor the recent lockdown of the Park & King area.

If people look at isolated incidents and say "I'm moving" then there's not much you can do about it.

Related, I go to the RCMP on a semi-regular basis and have never seen or heard anything unusual.

^They'd have a problem with most communities across the country. You can't escape the possibility of an isolated incident.

If I worked in the news media I would see a dangerous epidemic here.

Not sure it was said they should move because of one isolated incident but if this continues. And the owner of Boston's indicated I believe that this was not the first incident. Obviously any prior ones were not to this extent but none the less has happend before.

Doesn't Corrinne Deliver? Why can't she deliver a movie theatre to Gateway Mall and replace the shell of the space that the Supervisor of Elections vacated? Coles spent almost a million bucks downtown and she did not even want to be part of his deal. I am waiting to see her come out and discuss what needs to be done to the Northside. When we all know there needs to be a place for the kids and families to go to in their community.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton
