I don't think it is embarrassing...Redman thinks more people will come to games (and downtown) if Tebow was there...and he's probably right...for 2 games!

Would you expect anything less of Redman?  I mean really he pretty much is the definition of embarrassment. So he is really just being his sad self.

Any truth to the rumor that Redman also gave a few tips to Khan on how to build a better bumper?

I'm not at all anti-Tebow, but the obsession with bringing him to the Jags is puzzling to me.  An interesting comparison is Troy Smith, the former Ohio St. QB who won the Heisman the year before Tebow.  He's a Cleveland native.  The Browns are horrible and haven't had a decent QB in years.  Smith was cut by the Steelers last year.  Do you think there was a public outcry for the Browns to sign him to be their savior? Nope.  And now he's playing in the CFL, which is probably where Tebow should be at this point as well if he wants to keep playing.

By all accounts, NFL people think very highly of Caldwell and Bradley.  Maybe we fans should give them a little time to build a team their way....

Completely off topic with this thread, for which I apologize, but I don't think CFL would be the place for Tebow either. I know many feel that he could go there, hone his skills and return to NFL in 2 or 3 seasons, but I believe that will not happen. After suffering not just a Jaguars bad season but also a dismal Gators season, and being that I am not fond of Muschamp at all, I think Tebow would be a great addition to the Gators coaching staff.
Proud supporter of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Anybody catch this in the Business Journal? Seems a bit hyperbolic.

QuoteWhy is it that, given strong feelings from the public against the proposal to fund $43 million in EverBank Field improvements with taxpayer money, the plan appears ready to sail through the City Council?

Council members, meeting as a committee of the whole Thursday, voted 13-1 to move ahead with considering the plan presented by Jaguars owner Shad Khan to make $63 million in improvements to the stadium, which would bring us "the world's biggest scoreboards," water fountains and other amenities that will make our stadium "world-class." Khan would pay $20 million, with the city picking up the rest of the money through tourism taxes.

Based on the feedback that we've heard, this plan has significant opposition in the court of public opinion. That means voters, or, if you will, political constituents.

I'd like to know what they "heard" and who it was from. I have talked to alot of people about this and most I have talked to support the plan and it's benefits. The ones that are against it are mostly uninformed about where the money is coming from.

this would be the majority of the public on most issues

The money comes from the bed tax. The funds from that tax can be used for a few more things than sports venues. Convention centers and river enhancements are two. For the full picture, read section 125.0105(5), Florida Statutes.

At last week's hearing, Paul Harden allowed as how the team will get either all or most of the ad revenue from the jumbotron. You can pretty much bet that with a tremendously bigger screen, the cost to the advertisers will increase, and it seems to me that if the city is putting up 2/3 of the cost, it should receive some significant part of the revenue. At least we sure as hell ought to have some concept of the amount of dollars we are dealing with. Much is made of Khan's $10 million expenditures, but if he is going to get all of that back in a season or two of advertising dollars, it really ain't much of a big f---ing deal. Or so I think.

The people who are against the stadium upgrades drive me crazy; They probably could care less if the Jags were even here.
