I-10east

Tony Boselli went on Channel 4's Morning Show; The obvious question was attempted by Bruce Hamilton (Brunell's London take) and Boselli got annoyed with it, and didn't 'bite' as they say; I respect that they are buddies most likely, but there's nothing wrong with saying that you respectfully disagree with someone (even if he's your friend). So bottomline Big Bo came on 4, and pretty much said nothing; Only rehashing our miserable season with a positive vibe. Pointless interview if you ask me...

As someone who has followed the Jags since day one, and who has been a huge fan/supporter of Brunell, I have to say that his comments yesterday sort of hurt my feelings.  Yeah, I'm sensitive that way.  :)  If he just could have said "you national media guys have it wrong, and here's why..." he still would have gotten points from ESPN for being opinionated - he just wouldn't have been going along with the easy, lazy national narrative.

When Brunell was a player, he was always a pretty bland interview.  I remember closing my eyes and listening to him talk and he sounded just like Pete Sampras - another boring interview.  So I don't know if Mark was just trying to establish himself or if he was just caught off guard.  But it was disappointing, and if this is any indication of the kind of insight he's going to offer as an ESPN personality, then I really don't care to hear anything else he has to say.

Does anyone know what the earliest out date in the Stadium lease is?

It's 2027.  But don't be thinking in those terms anyway.  Khan has shown ample evidence of his commitment to Jacksonville.  The national media, in its preying on Jacksonville in a desperate effort to get the team to move, constantly speculates about a move in an effort to make a move seem inevitable, hoping thus to depress fan support and create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I agree with Khan's commitment to the City, but the NFL wants a team in Europe eventually (LA will get a team before London) .  Expansion seems unlikely with 34 being an odd number to divide into divisions.   I personally think it would be a difficult proposition to permanently field a team across the Atlantic for several reasons the biggest being travel, especially to and from the West coast.

14 years is almost a lifetime in "Stadium years" so the current improvements only lead me to believe that the commitment to Jacksonville is strictly for the current lease period, and until an extension comes (probably tied to another major renovation) there are no guarantees.

The bottom line is the next 10 years are critical for the future of the Jags in Jacksonville.  It allows for another generation of Jaguar fans to mature and become season ticket holders.  It's a decade for current season ticket holders to grow their disposable income to afford better seats.  It's a decade for the City to continue to grow, hopefully growing the business base which in turn grows support for the team.

I truly think Khan is committed to making it work in Jacksonville permanently, but I also am cognizant that the NFL is a business, and Jacksonville needs to continue to grow and in turn grow its support for the home team making the business case for keeping the team here a no brainer.

A fair and accurate assessment, I think.  I just meant that we can't embrace the defeatism that the national press is trying to thrust upon us.

Tomorrow night at 7 is the Jaguars weekly radio show with Sexton, Boselli and Brunell. It should be the first topic they bring up. I will be interested to see if they ignore it.

Maybe I am sensitive too but I thought it was very ignorant for him to say. He essentially played right into the national media (led by ESPN) narrative. Now his comments are on Pro Football Talk, ESPN, CBS Sports as if they needed anymore fuel to throw on the fire.

I too was so disappointed in his comments. I just feel like he fell right into their trap, or he felt he had to say something like that to get or keep his ESPN commentator job. Either way it sucks he had to say it. I wish Khan would just shut all this crap down once and for all and direct it right at ESPN and other sports outlets.

Such a perfect quote for such stupid comments. He was at ESPN because of what he did with the Jaguars. Mark - A tweet apology is NOT ENOUGH. He should hold a press conference, of course the Mayor will be there, and publicly apologize regarding his comments. The Jags can invite him into the Pride, but I as a citizen, will burn his jersey and propaganda, till he apologizes in public.

Yeah.  OK.  I get it.  He's the one of the most beloved Jaguar alum and he's making dumb comments to the media.

Difference here is that one of the most gossipy 'media' sites isn't even buying his prediction:
Quote
We still think it's unlikely any team will move on a full-time basis to London.  After playing back-to-back road games on the West Coast earlier this year, the Jags reportedly cooled on the idea of playing two games in one season in London.  Playing eight in England and eight in the United States per year would be a far greater challenge.

That's why we still think the ultimate outcome will entail, as Peter King reported on Sunday night, eight games per year in London involving different teams.

So the Jags moving to London is getting more attention by you guys here than the guys running certain websites who are better known for taking the LHF and running with it.

I don't give a damn about Peter King, or any other blowhard who says the Jags are moving to London.

The fact that a well respected local leader, who OWES his fame and respect to the Jags, came out and stabbed the fans and locals in the back, is what pisses me and others off.

Forget the national media. This guy owes fans and Jacksonville a real apology.

If Steve Beuerlein had said this, people would have been like, WHO? But this is Mark Brunell who holds the passing records for the Jags and won games, playoff games, well respected local leader.

Quick clarification, Peter King reported the opposite (he stated that no NFL team was likely to relocate permanently to London).

Also, the news cycle these days is like 30 seconds long.

Best way to make the story go away is to just ignore it.

These last two seasons are the first in years where relocation hasn't been the primary talking point about the Jags. We played our first of four annual games in London this year, we had to expect a little bit of this talk to come up, but come next Sunday, the story will be dead and everyone will be back to talking about how awful we are on the field :)

Disappointed in Brunell, but booing him and burning his jersey is only going to continue the story. As is grilling Boselli incessantly about what really amounts to a non-story.

The lease is ironclad for another 14 seasons, we're a few months removed from a really strong draft and hopefully the most promising QB in years, we've got some great new stadium upgrades coming (controversial as they may be), there's no reason to continue beating the dead relocation horse.

Who knows what will happen when the lease expires, but in the meantime, baseless relocation gossip does nothing but cause locals to turn on the Jags.

This is why I said people need to stop reposting these articles to begin with.

I forget.  Apologies make everything better.

I must be one of the few people who don't get caught up in the individual players.  I root for the team.  This is professional sports, man, players will always come and go - it's what they get paid to do.  And the team stops paying them when they can't do it anymore.

I thought they already had a sponsorship deal with them cause I saw the Ford signage on the scoreboard.
