Freeman's been crappy lately, though.

And my post up above re: Young was purely hypothetical. I don't see why the Jags would want to pick up anyone unless they thought it'd be a marked improvement over what's currently on the field.

I agree. If they player is not a slam dunk and is guaranteed to make us better, than don't even bother.
Why do you say that?  I don't think Young or Freeman are any sort of slam dunk, not even close.  But why not try.  Its a one-year audition for them to show the rest of the league what they have.  At this point, I just want the Jags to try something different.

Freeman would costs picks, VY would only cost money, but why waste either this year on a team that will be lucky to win any games for a band aid. It literally would serve the Jags no purpose...other than possibly 1 win or maybe 2.
The question is would 1 or 2 wins really make any of us feel better?

A six or seven rounder would be all I would give up... but really all I was asking about is if the Bucs were to cut him.  We are likely first in line for waiver wire players.  He would cost nothing... especially if you turned around and cut Henne or Gabbert.
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Keith-N-Jax

I am sure Caldwell is not giving up anything since he's plan to rebuild this team through the draft. We are not first on waivers either. We don't need or want Freeman.

Thye may cut Freeman.  Offer a 7th rounder for him.

Would it make the Jags competitive?  Then, yes, its worth it.  There are 14 more games to play this season.  The Jags owe it to the season ticket holders to at least make those 14 games competitive.

I wish that these Tebow trolls would head to that bridge.

LoL I second that!

IILY, if you want Tebow here fine, but you already know that he isn't coming. Why seize an opportunity to troll on with this 'Why not?" nonsense when the GM already said that he isn't coming? How bout 'Why not' Bridgewater, or Manziel next year? I don't like Tebow because of these trolls; I don't care, they made me this way.

Why say this (I wish that these Tebow trolls would head to that bridge.) does this make you feel good? The GM and the others that have felt great about who they have brought forward for our team. Haven't done such a great Job. So there are some Fans that want Tebow to be given a chance why not the two Jaguar Quarterbacks need help. Now if Tebow says No I don't want to play in Florida well then the Tebow supporters will walk away, but we are not going to jump off the bridge. >:(

There are only 12 more games, only 5 are home games for season ticket holders.

I get your point, and Bridge Troll's, do something, do anything. Just my opinion... Freeman or anyone else that is just out there for the taking, most likely, does not make The Jags more competitive. Take our lumps and wait for next year to draft a QB. We could make 50 roster moves and it will not get us 2 wins in my opinion. The Jags are historically bad.
The one reason I would agree with you if you forced me to is the pity for the poor bastards on the team that will have to keep trying out there and will have to be here next year. Would be nice for them to try and make it a little better. So many will be gone though next year anyway.
As for the fans, we know the Jags are horrible. Again, just my opinion, 2-14 doesn't make me any happier than 0-16...well...maybe make me happier for a few hours but thats it. I'd rather have the 1st pick.

I agree. winning one or two games would do nothing for us right now but mess up our draft position LOL I dont like the thought of going 0-16, but with a team that is going to be building through the draft, being that high in the draft order is golden, and we can get a top QB on top of that. Not to mention all the potential to trade and hoard more draft picks. We already have 9 as it stands. (including the Thomas and Smith Trades). But I do see none of these dudes on the offense are going to be here next season. Outside of the rookies we just drafted, I only see Mercedes, Cecil and Justin Blackmon being retained. The rest of them are on contract years and will be easy to release, and the rest are just terrible. The-oline is the worse spot outside of QB. The WR issue is a lack of depth more than anything.

Well... my point isnt exactly "do something.... do anything".  I also believe in build through the draft.  But Caldwell and Bradley are about competition also.  Freeman is not old... he has tools and has been good.  EVERYONE knows Tampa has been a hot mess since Schiano showed up.

Some guys do very well with a fresh start and proper coaching (A Smith anyone?).  Everyone in Jville should know drafting a first round QB is risky... (Leftwich/Gabbert?)  Suppose Freeman lights it up at minimum wage?  What else could we spend a first rounder on??

I'm not a "do something/anything" guy... but if he makes the team better... without sacrificing the future... give it a shot.

Just sayin... 8)

Yeah I agree. If he gets released, pick him up on the wire. Wont be losing anything doing that.

Man, you're so sensitive IILY, wow; Then again, it seems like all Tebow-ites are. That idiot Jeff Prosser on SFR went on this stupid rant this morning just because he saw an 'Even if he is released' sign at EverBank; What in the hell does he expect dealing with a bunch of unrealistic college fans?!!!We're supposed to be all damn cordial about this? No, we are tired of that nonsense, and a counter-Tebow culture should be expected within the diehard fanbase!!!Tebow trolls know that there's a chance of national media coverage, that's why they do it, even though they know he isn't coming.

Fair enough. But it doesn't appear they will release him. Mark Dominik is quoted as saying "I'm not going to hold Josh hostage," Dominik said. "But if we get something, we get something. We're not going to give him away.''

As for next year, man it's gonna be tough on offense again. I can't see them keeping Marcedes, duvaldude. Too much $$ and he has no reason to re negotiate. Meester gone (thats fine be we still need to replace him), Rackley continues to just fall down on pull plays (anyone notice this!!) Uche is marginal but something seems off with him, MJD of course gone.

I see CSIII, Blackmon, Joekel, hopefully Monroe, and thats it!!!

the only reason I inlcuded Lewis is because I dont see him being a cap casuality anytime soon. For one, he's are only tight end. Behind him, there is no one productive. I dont see them creating another hole in roster in effort to save money, when there is not a cap issue to begin with. Unless, they find someone just as good, or better for cheap. Thats just my take on it.

I'm with Apache...QB is *far* from our only problem and I don't see any point in wasting money or draft picks to pick up an okay QB during this season if the rest of our offense is weak anyway.  Its not like plugging in a somewhat better QB will make much of a difference.  I'll just be patient and see how Caldwell and Bradley build the team over the next couple of drafts.

It wasn't that long ago that Detroit went 0-16 and look at what they did to the Bears yesterday.  The Seahawks used to be a joke, too, and they broke JJ Watts face yesterday (which was *almost* even better than beating them the Texans) I'm writing off this year and maybe I'm too optimistic, but I'm excited to see what happens over the next couple of years (and please...no the-team-will-move comments)

Go Jaguars! Win or Lose, Always Jags fan for life!

duvaldude08

One of my agents called in who stays in another state and was saying that we have one of the best fan base. He asked me about the Jags like he always does, and was saying that he hopes things turn around for us. And Sunday, I will say the crowd was electric. I dont know if they were just drunk, but I completely shocked how excited everyone was. Of course by the end of the second quarter everyone was quiet and was comtemplating on if it was time for them to leave yet  ;D
