This one's been posted to MJ before too; a nice, happy, positive song.

We've got one: "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and man do those first 6 words describe our city!

Good morning everyone. Just thought id pop by and say a quick hello between  songs...
First of all id like to say how touched i am that metro jacksonville have appreciated my music recently, truly flattering to be acknowledged .
Id also like to point out i mean no disrepect by offering to write something for Jackonville! I was just touched by the response i got from the music i have spent the last 2 and a half yrs developing...
The whole writing a song for Jacksonville started as a gesture of writing a piece of music to dedicate the kindness i felt from some very nice people from your state nothing more.

I never intended to upset anyone, and in truth, i only wanted to say thanks like i did for a new friend and fan in texas.
Music should be shared and if this happens maybe jacksonville has a charity that could benefit from this piece of music? either as a harmonica piece or featuring words?
Maybe if you have local musicians that would be interested in writing words to the piece (a competition perhaps)?

IF jacksonville would like to join me in finishin the song i would be honoured... i would gladly accept the acknowledgement  for creating the music, but after that lets keep it in jacksonville, cos i understand where some the thoughts come from totally.
ANd this way maybe a charity could benefit?

Id love to hear thoughts on this. I could even enter my name as anon on the song to give Jacksonville choice of charity all the exposure?

Anyway blessed to have met Metro jacksonville. VEry kind people :)

Last thing guys, it does not have to be the song for jacksonville! it can be a song that is shared between new friends made thru this instead!
And an effort made to create something good for charity nothing more, again ANON happily!

If I were to work with a song writer about writing a song for Jacksonville I'd have him/her focus on several things:

1) I'd tell the people living here that they are NOT in the wrong place. That their life is not wasted in Jacksonville it's actualized in Jacksonville.
2) I'd want a few aspects of our history highlighted in relationship to how it changed the world.
3) I'd want people to know that the future of this city is not in the hands of its political leaders anymore, it is the hands of "the people".
4) And, let's not forget, water.

hey cat. DO you write, compose? would you like to get involved in doing so? It is sounding like the rich history coming out of jacksonville is bigger than i thought. Awesome to see passion. IF you feel you'd like tto put suggestions forward on how this works out/ ends up, it would be fantastic.

^^^I dig the presentation of that vid, minus the Florida Gator apparel sightings. Even though I'll definitely disagree with myself, watching that vid I had this weird unusual urge to yell out "Lets bring our home grown native son Timmy Tebow home to the Jags!!!" LOL ;D

Here go some old school grown folks stuff here. Oldies are the best.

I stumbled on this thread and somehow *knew* no one would suggest that Freddie Scott song. Very pleased to see that I was wrong. Definitely an under-appreciated classic.

Kudos to you, I-10 East. Now if we could only get you to appreciate the beauty of all things Gator ;-)
