Five Points had a Dipper Dan ice cream shop in the 60's. I had forgotten the Mole Hole, I loved that place.

When we moved back to Jacksonville in 1979, my wife and I tried to buy the Mole Hole to make it our home.  It was too expensive for us at the time but every time we walk by it is a "what if" moment.  Took us twenty years for finally get back in Riverside.

I believe it was the Cummer family original home. Later donated to the museum. It is now Cecils V. hair salon.

Thank you for your dedication to keeping the message board informed and to the Champions' Club.  I wish I could be a member, but I'm 600 miles away...

Dog Walker

The Mole Hole on May Street was actually the carriage house of a mansion in the Row on Riverside Avenue that has since been demolished.  I don't think it was the Cummer's, but another wealthy family.  I'll bet that Wayne Wood has a picture and complete history.

You are correct, Dog Walker. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a Confederate colonel by name of Cay, I believe.
