So, does anyone find it humorous that if you click on the "Transparency" link from the COJ.net page, you get an error message?

Kind of says it all.  On a very serious note, this is precisely why Times Union is suing the Mayor.  This is the "Sunshine State"!  His travels on private planes to discuss public matters while his public meeting calendar say's he is at "church" is the tip of the iceberg with this man and his way of handling city business.  The dysfunction between him and the council is very telling.  He would put himself above the balance of power and has tried to do so repeatedly.

^^^Wait until you read about what was said or not said at the 6/12/13 Jacksonville Waterways Commission meeting.

At first I laughed but then thought...how sad.  :)

BTW m74reeves, it was very nice to meet you at the noticed city meeting on Friday!    Would love to meet with you sometime to get to know you better.  My father said he knows EXACTLY where you grew up!  :)

Agreed...it's sad. There appear to be other broken links as well.

Great to meet you and your dad, too. It's a small world!

I had reservations about Mayor Brown when he was running.  We somehow got the two worst candidates possible in the runoff election.  Hogan ran like he didn't care if he won, and Brown, well we see what we have with him.

Why can we not search Council Minutes? If you want to look up a contract or anything, you have to know exactly when something went to Council. If I knew that, I wouldn't need a search feature!!!!

JAX2025 help give us TRANSPARENCY!!!

This keep it behind the curtain attitude of this administration is appalling and of deep concern.  In the meantime, Ms. Scott who so hates to be photographed is already recorded on video during several council meetings, including the one a few weeks ago.  Anyone willing to take the time can view those previous meetings and download whatever footage they would like to.  Any private citizen who goes and speaks at a council meeting is asked their name, address and is filmed.  That is what is understood in public meetings.  This notion that employees or department heads cannot be photographed is absurd.

Not to keep the thread off topic, but are there public network TV channels where citizens can watch each and every public council/department meeting?  I'm on basic cable, so out of ~40 or so channels I get maybe 3-4 are SF/CA Government TV stations (was similar in Atlanta), and I find myself watching them in the wee early hours of the AM or on hungover Sunday AMs like one would watch CSPAN...sadly.  :)  Nothing is behind closed curtains around here, that's for damn sure!

For those of us into photography/videography, the worst is when an officer or construction worker hastles you for standing on the public sidewalk or street while you are taking photos of a construction site.  I've heard of some physical aggression from some burly mid-level union c-workers against photographers before!

Sadly, having used the search feature and having had to look up resolutions or minutes regarding a few projects in multiple markets before, I believe it's this way in most places.  City/county governments don't have the budget for a hefty IT department and spectacular websites/search query features.

I guess I was spoiled by the Florida County I just moved from...smaller than JAX, but it was far easier to search the County meeting minutes. Minutes back to 1994 were searchable.

Which county?  It doesn't surprise me if a small county/town has such a feature for comparatively limited minutes/meetings while a big city doesn't just like it doesn't surprise me when I see a "lively" town center in a small town/county (much easier to do when that is it and suburbanization and urban blight haven't decimated the area) just like it doesn't surprise me when cops have time to ticket jaywalkers and government receptionists/desk clerks are friendly on the phone.  LoL (the "small town" advantages)
