so

Barakat   Wallace
Bailey      Wallace
Bishop     Wallace
Allegretti  Wallace
Perez        Unknown
Harris       Unknown
Harper     Hanna
Saylor      Hanna

Is that the sense of it so far?
That's how the comments appear. It's going to be close. I don't see either guy making or breaking downtown. This is totally the opposite of Nat Ford at JTA where you felt he had the ability to significantly turn things around, compared to the other finalist.

These candidates should have blown the DIA board and us away as experts in their field. I'm obviously not there, but it sounds like they are voting based on which is the least weak candidate, instead of the most dominant candidate. That's never a good thing.

Lake, you were at this and the JTA hiring. Would you say that the tone was much more positive for Ford than these two?
More positive at the JTA hiring. Ford clearly blew the room away. That has not happened here.

Mike Saylor: Impressed by Hanna's ability to speak off the cuff. Said you can flip coin because they are so close.

Mike is so diplomatic.  In southern speak, it usually means that there really is no comparison and that Hanna was hugely disappointing.

Thanks for the clarification. The little side conversation on the board about what was more impressive, preparation or a lack of it was kinda confusing.

Hmm.  looking at who is for who, im guessing that the outcome is Wallace.

Ennis, for our new readers on this issue, whats a quick background on him?
Has some experience in South Florida and is currently in a redevelopment position in Detroit.  Less management experience than Hanna but more visionary. Had some decent replies but Detroit's recent redevelopment success is driven by a local billionaire who is putting his money where his mouth is.

Wallace scores higher than Hanna.

Now the board gets to talk about it.

Board wants the media to know that both candidates were qualified and that the process is not over until there is a contract.

Board unanimously approves Wallace.

So diplomatic.  Was it Oliver who wanted us in the media to know that?

Bishop and Barakat.

TheCat

The board is discussing the contract negotiations. Bishop wants some sort of measurables in the contract. Pay bonuses on results.

I'm out. I'll try to get a copy of the score sheets and Wallace's presentation.

She was really unhappy with the choices, it sounds like.

I love Bishop.  I wish she would run for council.
