Don't know if you saw this but T.U. picked up on the Beer City Ballot:  http://jacksonville.com/opinion/blog/428360/ed-stansel/2013-04-23/jacksonville-gets-another-shot-beer-city-usa-title

Anyone know what are the seven microbreweries in the area that they mentioned? I guess they are counting Gainesville and St Augustine...but still what are the seven?

blizz01

If nothing else the comments section has been overrun by Jaxons!

Bold City
Intuition
Aardwolf
Mile Marker
Pinglehead
Green Room

and I'm guessing the 7th is either Engine 15 or Swamp Head (Gainesville)

Tacachale

They're miscounting. Intuition, Bold City, Green Room, Pinglehead/Brewers Pizza, Aardwolf, and Mile Marker are the production breweries.

We also have several brew pubs (restaurants that brew beer but can't sell it off premises) including River City Brewing Company, Engine 15, 7 Bridges, Ragtime, A1A in St. Augustine, and Karibrew in Fernandina.

Tacachale, Engine 15 actually distributes their beer locally now as well.

Thanks guys! So I guess it's:

Aardwolf
Bold City
Engine 15
Green Room
Intuition Aleworks
Mile Marker
Pinglehead

Thanks FSBA, kam311, Cheshire Cat, and ProjectMaximus... Let's keep this momentum going. How can we get the owrd out to the rest of the city? Anyone know anyone at one of the news stations?

Your best bet is to send out a press release to local T.V. and radio stations with an emphasis on the latter.  Radio in such a short time frame would really get the word out, so email the stations that reach Jacksonville and surrounding areas.  Kinda late for print media.  Good luck!

Will write one tonight!

Yes, I did see that. Ed Stansel writes their beer blog Amber Waves and is a friend of mine.

It is a little bit of a stretch to call Swamp Head a Jacksonville brewery, but not too much. Gainesville is only an hour or so away and the beer is distributed all over Jax. Not to mention they have darn tasty brew.

By the way, I typed up and sent out a press release to all the television and radio outlets. We will see if anyone picks up on it.

That's awesome news. Don't know how I missed that, I'm in there almost every week. So we really do have seven distributing breweries in the metro now.

That's great! Let's keep the momentum going!

Remember, this is just the nomination... Next month, during American Craft Beer Week May 13-18, we will have to vote! I will, of course, keep everyone updated.

Gonzo, do you know anything about the current locations of the breweries listed above and if you have the time can you share what you know with us, including locations?  Thanks.
