QuoteThe Florida Highway Patrol is requesting the public's help in locating a black 2003-05 Ford Edge pickup truck. The truck is a small pickup that is a factory modified Ford Ranger with an additional graphic near the rear left and right side as "EDGE," troopers said. They said it will have significant damage to the front and right area.

If anyone has information on the vehicle or driver, call FHP at 904-359-6572.

Just in case anyone knows this truck. Same link as above.

Better Signage could help "drivers" understand them and use better judgement?

If we're not going to invest in proper shared-roadways, can we at least point these "red light cameras" on traffic? Maybe then we'd catch these human filth that hit and run.

Given how little consideration is given to our roadways, I'm not surprised by how much people are hit on their bikes in Jax, but I'm shocked at how many people hit and run after doing it. It's murder.

It was after mid night on Wells road. The guy was peddling home from his job at Carrabas.

Bet we'll find adult beverages involved with the driver of the truck.

Unfortunate incident. Believe me, I not excusing that scum who hit him and ran, but I wonder did the cyclist have proper night lights on that bike (don't look like it from the pic) because you better believe if I'm riding at night, I'm gonna have some lights; People are saying 'share the road' well, you can't share what you can't see.

That scumbag driver more than likely wasn't clean legally (no license, or what have you) and that's why he ran. In most cases drivers don't get charged in similar situations if they just simply stop.

Kind of a presumptuous thing to say since you don't know. What "pictures" are you looking at? The video?? Do you know how small bike lights actually are?? They could be clipped on a seat post, a fender or anything. So if you can see that he didn't have any you must have eagle eyes.

Not saying you're not right, he may have well not been using lights & it was a contributing factor that led to his death. Having been in this area often though, I can tell you the road system itself was probably the ultimate factor. This place is a death trap for pedestrians. There's no shoulders, no sidewalks in most places & you literally have to ride with the automobiles.

This is exactly why I'll never promote the whole "share the road" shit in place of a real separated infrastructure, whether via sidewalk or its own separate confined system. Mixing large motorized automobiles with non-motorized pedestrians, especially overtop a system like this one thats geared 100% towards the automobile, is a recipe for disaster. Which we'll continue to see here until city planners get off their asses & start actually thinking about this stuff instead of painting sharrows on a road & calling it a day.

The real shame as far as infrastructure failure goes is yesterday FDOT had a display, public meeting and comment's for several miles of new sidewalks and bike lanes along Philips Highway. It was attended by one cyclist, Lakelander and Myself. With this kind of interest in getting it right, the 'public be damned' attitude in city hall and Tallahassee will just continue.

I agree Bob that it is a terrible shame that issues like sidewalks and bike lanes are ignored time and time again by those we elect and hire to make our city better.  The crime here and what is paramount to all else is that a human being was stuck and killed by another person who was so heartless and concerned over their own hide that they left him for dead.  We have had several instances like this in the past year and what this says about some in our society is frankly horrifying.  In most of the cases where the drivers are later identified it turns out that they fled because of being drunk or having warrants out on them or some other type of illegal activity connected to them.  Perhaps if there was a lawful method to give some sort of break to those who have broken the law but still have the guts to stop and tend to the needs of the injured person we might see some lives saved.  Without that and addressing bike lanes etc., I see more and more deadly hit and runs in our future.

Hard to say P. The age looks about right as is the location.  All the media gave was a name, age, city and that he drove a truck.

You might be right, but my gut is telling me that the bike didn't have any lights, and I could very well be wrong. I'd be surprised if none of the three local news (which I saw) reports didn't mention any lights by coincidence, either way I hope that guy gets caught. I wouldn't expect a relatively small suburban/rural county that is Clay to undergo this major urbanized bike lane/ sidewalk project in the Blanding area anytime soon, I hope that no one is holding their breath.

your gut tells you this?

Does it have any leads on Hoffa?

Yeah, the mafia made him ride a bike without lights. The rest is history.
