That plaza is making a nice little comeback, with World of Beer and Jersey Mike's moving in to replace Starbucks and McAllisters.

They definitely seem to be geared more towards the suburbanite.

It's a bar. I am pretty sure it's geared towards people that want a drink.

Suburbaites and Urbanites have different tastes and expectations from places where they eat, dine, shop.

You don't see a Dos Gatos in the burbs and you don't see a TGI Friday's in the urban core.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me to see WOB consider The Landing or Downtown if they do plan to aggressively expand in Jax. A World of Beer/Latitude 30 partnership would probably kill it at the Old Library site.

50 taps is hardly unusual these days, but World of Beer does seem to be extremely popular. So it's doing something right. I've never been to one, but the previous poster's description of "Disney's idea of a neighborhood bar" sounds like it might be dead-on.

No but it's not like people from the suburbs won't drive to Dos Gatos.

I don't know Fridays does well at many downtown locations, here's Memphis:

The tens of thousands (?) of employees that work in offices at butler & southside/butler & 95 don't have a decent place nearby to get a beer after work except for 7 bridges. But their beer selection is limited. I think this will do well in that area.
Jags season ticket holder.

The Mellow Mushroom over in that area has dozens of high-quality beers on tap. Conversely, Birdies, which is in an urban neighborhood, only has garbage on tap. What is CityLife getting at?

Yeah good point Funwithteeth. Lots of places in the (gasp!) SUBURBAN SIDES OF TOWN now carry at least a few drafts from Intuition, Bold City, or Mile Marker.
