@ Tinseltown - From the TU:
QuoteWorld of Beer, a chain that has grown amazingly fast in just a few years, will open a location in Jacksonville early next year. It’s going into a former Starbucks at 9700 Deer Lake Court in Tinseltown, with opening expected in February.

It’s a beer bar, with about 50 beers on tap and another 500 or so in bottles. There’s also wine and cigars, but no liquor and most locations don’t serve food.

The first WOB opened in 2007 in Tampa, since then it’s grown to 31 locations in 10 states. It’s done that through franchising, bringing in former Outback Steakhouse executives to take charge of that.

A spokeswoman for WOB said that more Jacksonville locations are planned, but no specific sites have been identified. And there’s certainly indications of more. The local franchise owner is Jax Beer Ventures 1 LLC, based in Riverview, just outside of the Tampa. And the same owners have already created four other Jax Beer Ventures corporations.

Jags season ticket holder.

Yep - pretty simple business model - lots of beer, no food, & live music.  Reviews are positive & I read that the "food menu" keeps the numbers of local places that will deliver to you inside the bar...

I visited the one in Lake Mary a few months ago, also located in a Tinsel Town-esque mall area. They are Disney's version of the cool, neighborhood beer bar.

Doesn't Kickbacks have more on tap?  I know they will have a LOT more once the expansion opens up.

Kickbacks and Dahlia's both have 30+ more on tap currently, but I think this place will certainly standout for the Tinseltown/SJTC area.

My friends that live in suburban Tampa love the place, so I'm sure it will do well with people that live and work close by.

I wonder where they're looking for "more Jacksonville locations"...

I'd guess that Fleming Island, Northern SJC/Mandarin/PVB, and maybe Jax Beach would be their type of places.

Apparently the MM at Tinseltown has 46 beers on tap, which is a whole lot more than I thought it did, so I guess this place won't stand out there as much as I thought it would. I'm curious how well this place will do without offering food. Is there any precedent for a similar establishment in that area?

I've seen it work in other places.  Usually in an area that has food establishments nearby that patrons can run out and do pickup from.

Jason

They definitely seem to be geared more towards the suburbanite.

FYI, Kickbacks has 80+ on tap.
