Hello MetJax,

Would you say there is more acceptance or should I say tolerance for Marijuana paraphernalia/t-shirts. Do you think we're starting to see a trend that is starting to deepen from politics, and pop culture?

What do you think of these t-shirts? Are they "acceptable?"

Americana Weed Leaf from Urban Outfitters

While I wouldn't wear them personally (they're just not my style), I love weed paraphernalia in all shapes sizes and forms.

You been out west in the last 5-10 years?  Its everywhere and is a cash cow.  Its only a matter of time before its legal/decriminalized, its on the ballot in November for outright legalization in Colorado, Oregon and Washington State.  Its coming this way as well, Arkansas and North Carolina will vote on medical marijuana and decriminalization in November.

Those styles are definitely retro... from the 70's at least... 8)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Nightman_Cometh -- The West Coast definitely has more tolerance regarding marijuana regulation. How do you think this will play out in the South?

I guess we are seeing a change in American culture, maybe styles and pop-culture from the 60's and 70's are truly affecting our culture currently. After all....history does repeat itself  ::)

We'll be the last to do it. Basically most the states from Texas to the East (including KY & TN).

I am against decriminalization.  I am for legalization (of pot).  I believe that ingesting it is kind of stupid, but not as stupid as wearing those shirts.  This is an excellent opportunity for you democrats to practice your taxing skills!

NotNow -- What makes the shirts stupid?

Even-though I personally favor legalization I just ponder, if "gentlemen" and "ladies" wear clothing supporting alcohol, and sex, why is it bad for individuals to wear a "pot leaf t-shirt."

NotNow

I didn't say it was "bad", I said it was "stupid".  I find that many people who's lives revolve around intoxicants so much that they voluntarily advertise with their clothing don't seem to lead very interesting lives at all.

But of course, if that is what blows up your skirt, knock yourself out.

Sometimes people just wear shirts. I have one with a picture of an old school Atari controller on the front, it doesn't mean my life revolves around video games. Also people can support causes without even partaking in said actions. Example: I'm ok with gun ownership, I don't own one. Ok with marijuana legalization, rarely even use it. Ok with gay marriage, I'm not gay.

You sound very judgmental.

NotNow

Yeah, I'm the only judgemental person here... ::)
