Thanks Chris.

Anyone know where I can find the hours?

I think they're open for breakfast from 7am to 11am M-F. No weekends. Bring cash. :)

FYI, I prefer their breakfast plates. The salmon patty plate is so southern & amazing.

Gracias!

Here's an article about Tommy's from last year: http://springfield.firstcoastnews.com/news/arts-culture/one-springfields-best-kept-secrets-intends-stay-way/51282

with an excerpt:

Tommy’s is the stuff of Springfield legend, one that goes back many years to a time when Springfield was still pretty rough, and 7am beers were probably a lot more common. Somehow the little restaurant still manages to harkens back to the roots of Springfield in its collection of antique coolers and ovens, and reminds the customer of a time when small neighborhood businesses were the only way to get a quick bite on the way to work. They have no website, or social media presense. Just a very strong word of mouth, and a loyal clientelle.

Split into two areas of a small industrial building, Tommy’s offers a very southern selection of breakfasts ranging from the often spoken of "Breakfast in a cup", which includes grits, eggs, and cheese, to boxed breakfasts, to "sammiches". In the back room you can sit and watch the morning news, or play a game of pool.

Just left Tommy's.

Holy shit.

Amazing food, cool place, great guy.

This place has "best of Jacksonville" written all over it. Wow.

^Cool little hole in the walls like Tommy's is one of the reasons I love Jacksonville's urban core and believe it has the potential to really become a vibrant place.

Exactly.

The whole time we were sitting there,  we were talking about "this is why we love Jacksonville so much." Really makes me happy to live in the Core and have easy access to these places. You don't find these kind of places in many cities, and when you do, they have lines a mile long and they take an hour and $20 dollars just to get through the front door. Fantastic little spot.

Springfield Chicken

I'm a breakfast-in-a-cup kind of gal.  Theirs is like a little bit of heaven in my mouth.

Hold up.

Is this like an old run down beer store that serves awesome breakfast?  Sounds like an all around winner in my book.  You can't lose by combining the two most important food groups (beer and breakfast).

Breakfast in a cup.  Yum.  Buttered grits, cheese and an egg on top for $1.50.  A little more for bacon included.  We stop by sometimes on the way to work.  It's been a couple of months, though, and this thread reminded me.  Time go to again.
