if true, I would expect an apology from the team's front office by tomorrow...and possible firing of the mascot

What's wrong with a little playful banter? It's pretty much de rigeur in most cities that have multiple teams. Of course, it's a bit odd here b/c they play in two different leagues (and arguably play two different codes of football). But I would see that sign as a bit of cheeky ribbing and a way to "remind" people that Jax has a winning football team.

I don't think you should be so thin-skinned about it.

^^^I hope that you're kidding. Wait, it should not surprise me that you agree with the Sharks 'playful banter' because you never wanted the NFL here from the get-go. The Sharks antics are clearly a classless cheapshot at the Jags!

No, my feelings about Jax getting an NFL team in the early 90s are irrelevant.

Sports teams do this sort of thing. The Sharks are small fish when compared to the Jaguars. They should be able to have a bit of fun and rib their bigger neighbours for their lack of success as of late. It all seems in good fun to me, but whatever. I guess some people can't take a joke.

^^^Give me an example of a smaller league team that make fun of a major league franchise in the same city? "Sharks 1, Team Teal 0" isn't just harmless 'playful banter' it's a cheapshot.

Easy. Just read a bit about European soccer and it's commonplace. West Ham and Millwall spring to mind immediately (prior to this season, as they are finally playing in the same league).

But as I said in another thread, I'm not going to bother answering any more of your posts, as I don't appreciate the personal attacks.

^^^How bout something on this continent? Preferably something concerning the 'Big Four' NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL.

Personal attacks?? Wow! Go ahead and play the 'victim' role, and don't answer any of my posts. Remember though, I'm the Jags fan that's "thin skinned" about the Sharks taking cheapshots against the big league hometown team, that I'm a season ticket holder of!

Nothing wrong with a little teasing of the big teal monster. If that's all it was - a sign - then people are being way too sensitive. Fact is - it was true. It's not like they hung a banner outside the arena taunting the Jags across the parking lot. Lighten up people.

PS - the best way to shut up the Sharks mascot is for the Jags to win.

There are alot of Jag fans who didn't think that sign was funny. Would this work in Philly, if the Philadelphia Soul made fun of the Eagles? Please, no one give me that "The Eagles has many generations of fan support" BS, that doesn't matter; There are hardcore Jag fans like myself, and some on MJ who are extremely turned off by the Sharks antics.

It's also not a first, because the Sharks broadcast team and FB page were fanning "the Jaguars always lose" flames last season even as the Jaguars did a recognition ceremony for the Sharks' championship at a Jag game.

Seems to me the Sharks are trying to tap into the same group of fans that ascribe to the "Jaguars are losers, can't wait for them to move, Tim Tebow is a winner, this is Gators town!" line.  (DISCLAIMER: this does not in any way, shape, or form apply to people who are both loyal Jag fans and loyal Gator fans.)

And as far as I'm concerned, fanning anti-Jaguars sentiment is destructive to Jacksonville's national image and for that reason, isn't the least bit funny.

On a side note.. The Sharks SUCK tonight. This is terrible.

I also hear from those who were at the game that when the championship banner was unfurled, the Shark mascot held up a sign that said "Sharks 1, Team Teal 0."  Not the first time this organization has classlessly taken a shot at the Jaguars.  I can't root for them, and it's nearly impossible to get me to not root for something from Jacksonville.

Being that Arena football is equivalent to flag football, and not to mention the AFL are NFL rejects. I'm not offended by it, but why would you trash to another football in your city same versus a team in the AFL. and lets see you get zero national recognition for an arena bowl, but worldwide recognition for a superbowl. The Sharks could stop p[laying tomorrow and it would have Zero effect on this city
Jaguars 2.0

Too bad Tim tebow is not in Jacksonville.  Oh how this team needs a leader, and a new GM!

Y'all are being WAY too sensitive. This was clearly just some ribbing that most would laugh off. This is getting pretty funny.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?
