One other thing:

"It boiled down to him getting playing time. He stated he preferred playing time over returning to his hometown."

If that is the case, then what's with all the other posts? The things about his fans appreciating him or him feeling slighted by the Jaguars for not drafting him originally?

That's way more hard to buy than the fact that the Jaguars aren't doing well and don't get a lot of media coverage as a result.

Being that he stated himself that hopefully he returned to Florida, I dont think it had anything to do with NY being such a great location and the Jets being winners (because they sucked last year.). It boiled down to him getting playing time. He stated he preferred playing time over returning to his hometown. Looks like he made his choice. It had nothing to do with the Jaguars " not winning" because the Jets are a complete mess on and off the field.

I disagree. They didn't 'suck' so much as they under-performed. Last season was their second-worst season in the past 6 years and they still ended up with an 8-8 record. I think it's fair to say that, recent form aside, they've been trending upwards over the years and the Jaguars have been getting worse.

It pains me to say it because I absolutely despise the Jets. I think pretty much all Dolphins fans do. But if I were in his shoes, I'd probably make the same decision. But I have no idea why he chose the Jets - I just offered a reasonable answer that all the Jaguars/Tebow fans seem to have overlooked.

I think a big problem with Tebow-mania is it makes people think they know the guy. He is probably the only person who knows why he did what he did. I think people should just get over it and move on. It didn't happen. And, as much as I enjoy schadenfreude, I think this will probably end up being a good thing for the Jaguars in the long run.

We actually moved on and was talking about the Jags until you popped up!  ::)

Tebow had no choice. Anyone who follows the NFL knows that a 2 year player has no power to veto a deal.

I firmly believe Gene Smith did not want him, yet again. Smith's team will be on the field this year. If it fails to sell seats and inspire new fans, Gene Smith will be shown the door, and rightly so. I think Weaver should have fired him with Del Rio. We will always be rebuilding with Gene Smith. He has yet to show he can build a team that can win.

9-7.
Jax will be one of a couple surprise teams, fighting it out with the Titans for #2. " Playoffs?!  Don't talk about playoffs!"
2012=the Year of Shorts.

Boo!!! 10-6 and we battle it out for a wild card! Screw you!  ;D I also think Shorts is going to show out this year. We have the best receiver coach in the game who came out of retirement to work for us and Im grateful. IF we can those receivers going and Gabbert can overcome his happy feet, we will be fine. Blaine had a tough year, but I guarantee he learned alot from it and will be alot better.

It's good to be optimistic, but reality will set in as soon as the season starts.

Let's be optimistic.  11_4_1.  Robiskie is the large target.  Thomas is the quick possession guy.  West & Robinson light up the outside.  Leaves Shorts & Lewis to pick up the rest.  BG is a 60% passer with 4k yards.  MJD sets the standard again.  The D stays in the top 10.  Jags 34 /Jets 21.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I am curious to see how Robiskie plays.

Elway, Tebow differ on whether quarterback chose Jets

On Wednesday, multiple reports indicated that the Broncos were allowing quarterback Tim Tebow to choose between the Jets and the Jaguars.  After the trade went down, Tebow claimed otherwise.

In a late-night media conference call, Tebow said that he “didn’t have any [say]” in his destination, and that the Broncos had “all that power.”

Broncos V.P. of football operations John Elway begs to differ.

“There was more [offered] from Jacksonville, but I think that we looked at it and it was close enough, and we were in contact with Tim throughout the day, and talked to him,” Elway told ESPN Radio in Denver on Thursday, via Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.  “He knew what was going on the whole time.  The reports that he was not involved are not accurate.”

It’s more than “reports” that Tebow wasn’t involved.  Tebow said so himself.

And here’s one of the benefits of having an image of devout faith and overt acts of charity and stubborn chastity.  Folks who enjoy such an image can get away with a periodic whopper, and no one will think that they are stretching the truth.

Even if they possibly are.

Regardless of the truth, Tebow has no reason to say he chose the Jets over the Jaguars.  If things don’t work out in New York, where the owner, the coaching staff, and the front office want him, Tebow eventually could go to Jacksonville, where the current owner always will.

Why spoil an eventual homecoming by alienating the hometown crowd now?

I can think of one major reason why Tebow probably chose NY over Jax: the Jaguars suck and the Jets are possible superbowl contenders.

An average 8-8 Jets team that lost three straight to finish the season isn't exactly a 'SB contender'. The Jets has some issues, esp with this Tebow circus; Even Mr 'Can't wait!' Bart Scott wanted to get outta there; Maybe you got confused with that season when they were contenders beating the Pats in the playoffs. We'll see who 'suck' when the Jags face the Jets at Everbank Field, and face your Phins down there in Sunlife Stadium. Cant wait!!!!

^^^I'm thinking about going down there for that game too. I can't believe that you picked the Jags to go 10-6, I did the same thing two nights ago, It's like we're twins or something. LOL

Now this is just preliminary and speculative of course, and anything can happen with the draft still coming up, but this is the games that I predicted for the Jags to win & lose.

Sorry about the bunched up mega post LOL, but do you think that Tebow had the choice to pick between the two teams? I think that he did, and picked the Jets because they had the personnel for the Wildcat which Tebow would be the QB in; The Jags seemed like they were thinking more of a limited spec teams type of role. Either way, as you know, I'm happy that he isn't here.

kells904

Simma down, DD :) 9-7 is restrained optimism.  Every year the Jags win a couple that they "shouldn't", and lose a couple that they shouldn't.  So long as they make it interesting with all the AFC south teams and keep the Colts in the cellar, and are in the playoff race, I'm good.  I'd consider that "change I can believe in."

Curious to see how the WR battle shakes out.
