Anyone else watching ESPN? Those two shots of downtown looked great!

EDIT: They just showed the full skyline. Um... Why is the Wells Fargo sign not lit up? Wasn't that one of their main reasons for moving? More exposure?

They shut them off after a certain time. I believe at 10. Im not sure why they would not have been on tonight though

Ben says that the Modis sign was still up there. They used old pictures.

One word for the jags defense... IMPRESSIVE!  Certainly Ravens ineptitude played a factor but by far the best defense I have seen in the entire NFL this year. :)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Exhausted.

Going to be useless until I get a few cups of coffee into me.

Incredible defense, incredible kicking, and a genuinely ugly performance by the offense.

To give credit where it's due, I do think that JDR and company coached a hell of a game last night.

What time did the stadium finally empty out? How'd the crowd look? Didn't see the 2nd half.

They didn't empty out until around 12:15am, and then we weren't able to pull out of F lot until 1am.  So, yeah a weeeeee bit sluggish this morning.  But I'll take it every time for a win!  8)

Great game last night. The stadium was electrified! Now I just need to wake up.

Yeah, just around midnight if I recall correctly.

Crowd looked great, though it was a strange decision to have all the extra seating out.

I'd guess 65,000 last night.

It was a rowdy crowd too.

On a side note, I was flipping through some coverage this morning on my DVR, and man did downtown look dark. It was new footage, as the Wells Fargo sign was up and the fountain was post-renovation.

Does anyone know if other cities kick in and help pay for downtown uplighting?

fsujax

Our Downtown is dark. The property managers of most of the buildings do not care about lighting up the towers. They did it for the Super Bowl and after that nothing. It also helps to have a little nudging from the Mayor's office.

Wow, what a game. The defense looked bad-ass out there.

Has anyone else heard the rumor about Fred Smith (FedEx) buying Weaver's share of the Jaguars?  I heard it from a couple different sources last night that would have a reason to be know.

But Hey, you have to remember that in order for us to kick, offense has to move us down the field. So they did do something.

ESPN did a small piece ( I think it was at the request of Weaver) about how unlikely it was that the jags would be sold ... and even more unlikely that they would move.  It was mentioned that if and when Weaver would sell... Smith would be a likely candidate... provided he commited to staying in Jax.

I'm happy for all of the Jags fans who enjoyed the game.

Now how can the rest of us benefit from our collective investment in this team?

The Saints did a lot for New Orleans post-Katrina.  What can we expect from the Jags?

QuoteIn an unprecedented show of philanthropy, Jacksonville Jaguars co-owners Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver announced Friday $21 million in donations to 38 Northeast Florida nonprofit organizations.

The Weavers personally donated to groups they selected based on various educational, cultural and social contributions to the community. The United Way of Northeast Florida's full-service schools received the most with $1,625,000. Ten others were given $1 million....

Charitable contributions from the owners of NFL teams are a very inefficient way to redistribute wealth.  They take part of the money that we give them and turn it over to recipients of their own choosing.

What we really need is something like the bounce that New Orleans got from the Saints.
