Or if this team gels a little more. To be honest, they have the look of an expansion team. I'm not convinced Del Rio is really the issue per se. He will be gone for 2012, so it's a moot point, and I won't miss him really. However, one thing that's amazing if yoy think about it is that this team as in every game except week 2 against the Jets.

They arent geling because of the QB changes. That screwed EVERYTHING up. Garrad wasnt a elite QB, but they were used to playing with him. They knew his style of play, they were connected, etc etc. My dad and I were talking today and he even said that the QB change caused the problems. Not to mention we changed twice and the starting QB is a rookie now.  That was the worse thing we could have done. (giving no off season) THAT is why Del Rio is the issue. Garrad needed to go, but the timing was awful. Del Rio and the coaching staff are CLUE LESS.

But to your point, it is amazing that we have been so close to winning after all of the stuff that has transpired. All is not lost, just this season is  ;D

Yes, but if Gabbert catches fire near the end of the season Jack will have a pretty good argument for his job that he moved this franchise forward.

What did you guys think of Jack making the call to kick the field goal on 4th and 6, down by a touchdown, with 4:00 to go?

I slept the entire second half, but from what I read the call seemed ok. The noticed the defense setting up to blitz and that when the time out was called. Gabby is learning already. He noticed how they were lined up, then called time out and asked Del Rio what they should do.

I know it's hard to believe, but it's the right call.

4th & 6 at the Steeler's 32, down by 7, around 4 minutes on the clock.  Take your points.

We needed 7 to tie, so essentially it was a 2 possesion game to win.  Either way, we're giving the Steeler's back the ball and are going to have to force a stop and conserve time on the clock.

The way we did it, we had a little over a minute to drive down the field.

Scenario #2 - Failed 4th down conv:  We still have to stop the Steelers (with no timeouts), get the ball back and HAVE to score 7 to tie.

Scenario #3 - Converted the 4th:  Now we start eating clock during the remainder of the drive.  If it stalls further down the field, we're still kicking 3 and left with less time on the clock when/if we get the ball back and we're stuck in 4 down territory at that point, so there wouldn't be any time left for a game winning drive.

The only way for it to work is for us to convert and get the TD while conserving as much time as possible.  Getting the ball back and still having enough time left for Scobee to boot a FG.  With No time outs.  The gutsier call would have been to try and score the TD, but the safe call was what we did.

Either way, we were going to have to drive down the field and score a TD to win, so I agree with taking the points.  At least we were driving for the win and not the tie.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

For whatever reason, we're getting creamed on a regular basis.

It's time to stop pussyfooting and try to convert every, or almost every, 4th down instead of kicking it away, hoping to keep the return yardage reasonable. Our new QB will then have 25% more opportunity to perform and grow and maybe surprise everyone.

So what if we end up on our side of center. It will give the defense more to shoot for - prove they got the extra umpf.

If they drive for a TD at the end of the game and win, he looks like a genius. I thought it was the right call.

I thought it was the right call too.  What I didn't like was the 3rd and 4 run call right before it.

This is our worst record yet, correct? Or are we tied with our inaugural year?

One thing we tend to overlook is that the conference games are later in the season now. We still have 2 Indy games, 2 Houston games, and an away Tennessee game to come. We won't know how we're really faring until later in the season.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Well the season is not over so I am not sure why this would be our worse record yet? However to answer your questions we won four games our first season.

We were also 1-5 after six games in '03 as well if that is the question.

The inaugural Jags started 0-4, then beat Houston and Pittsburgh, so they were 2-4 at this point in the season.

and after the New Orleans debacle of going for it instead of kicking three times (and failing on all), this was definitely the right call!

Keith-N-Jax

I thought it was the right call as well, but what bothers me is the call before, why take Drew out if anything leave him in you know the defense will be focusing on him and perhaps a short pass to Lewis or Thomas for the first. Why give it to Deji there? On another note defense is ranked 8th and offense is ranked you know where 32nd. Jags had a chance to win the Panthers, Bengals, and Steelers game. Opportunities in Saints game. Give the offense some more time and a legit WR, team could make some noise next yr. MNF here we come!!! Go Jags.
