Gorrie School is really looking sharp.
I'd say it's 95% finished. The realtors have set up shop just this week.

Fallen Buckeye

Have they figured out what they are going to do with Monroe St. yet?

If you ever have any doubt about the possibility of eternal life, look no further than the Park View Inn.  That building seems to be destined to stay up...  LOL

I read the SPAR newsletter on their website. It states that the asbestos removal will be finished in 5 weeks and a celebratory public meeting will be held prior to demo.

SPAR....................... celebrating demolitions.

This is one I will celebrate with them. I am so happy when I moved from Arlington. Because having to cross the Matthew into DT and seeing this monsterous eye sore everyday was tormenting. LOL!!

I agree it has to go.  I pass it 7 days a week....  just think it is funny.

It is funny but I would be happy to push the button on any explosives in the Park View.

Park View needs to go...this could be a great spot for that Winn-Dixie Alvin Brown was talking about. It's in between the core and Springfield, great location.

Why is it taking so long just to remove asbestos? Sounds like they're taking their sweet time, stop slacking and just get it out already!

I believe they are required to use tweezers and Ziploc bags to dispose of asbestos.

If this was somebody's house in Springfield, the building would have been gone in two days.

LOL!  Asbestos abatement or not, I will believe that it's going down when I see that lingering cloud of dust finally descending upon State Street!

There's already a Winn Dixie two blocks away at the corner of Union and Market, and it was just remodeled.

There also won't be a huge cloud of dust descending upon State Street.  The parking garage is staying put and will be remodeled.  The only parts that are coming down are the top of the tower along Orange and the old lobby area at the corner of Main & State.

It has been a struggle for those businesses.  But most are staying optimistic because the end result will be such an improvement.  It's hard to complain too much when you are getting a really nice streetscape in front of your business.

Have no fear those of you on:
King
Oak
Post
Riverside
Forrest
Park -or- Myrtle
Bay
Lee
Water
Independence
Newnan

Streetcar construction SHOULD move at one block per week.

New Orleans is working on their Loyola Extension and dirt is already turning on a cluster of new development projects and TOD'S. They expect over a BILLION in new development when the streetcar is up and running. Jacksonville NEEDS a piece of that action.
