From CNN:

QuoteIt's a mid-winter morning in Jacksonville, Florida, when CNN joins this faithful caravan. The "ambassadors," as they call themselves, are easy to spot. They are the 10 people milling about in an RV park drawing stares, eye rolls, under-the-breath mutters and, at times, words of support.

They're wearing sweatshirts and other clothing announcing the "Awesome News," that Judgment Day is coming on May 21. On that day, people who will be saved will be raptured up to heaven. The rest will endure exactly 153 days of death and horror before the world ends on October 21. That message is splashed across their five sleek, vinyl-wrapped RVs, bearing this promise: "The Bible guarantees it!"

I got one of these brochures on my front doorstep the other day. Sadly, I missed the bearers of awesome news. I'm adding it to my collection of awesomely kooky propaganda! Right next to my 1963 "Communism is the devil" cold war pamphlet!

I remember back in 1994 when he (Camping of FR) claimed the world was ending then, a bunch of people did the same exact thing (leaving their families and lives behind) and went to some mountain retreat to wait out the rapture. It was pretty funny because I regularly attended FBC at the time and Camping was actually pretty popular- there was a bit of controversy during all this because I think it was Jerry Vines that spoke out against Camping and other date-pickers during a sermon. I was in the youth stuff at that time and I clearly remember at least four or five kids who because of their parents, firmly believed that the world was going to end- they gave away pets and one kid even gave away his really impressive baseball card collection. It was a really strange time to be there and I stopped attending regularly around then but I would've loved to have seen how those folks acted after they weren't swept off to glory.

One thing about it all; the Bible (the word of God), and God tells the truth and men are liars. The Bible says that no man, no one knows the day or the hour, not even the Son (Jesus) but only the Father knows exactly when the end will be and when Jesus will return.

So if anyone sets a time and a day, they're lying...don't believe them. Just try and be ready if you believe in God and Christ.

I concur, Heights Unknown.  If any person believes somewhat, or completely in the Bible, it is in fact written that no man knows.  Taking that literally , to me means do not worry about whenever the return of Jesus Christ will be , and "the end of the World" .  just be ready. For all I know , it could be in the next 5 minutes, or it may be after my passing.  I don't know, and I will not worry about that which I have no control over.

How exactly the world is to end, if in fact it is , is not relevant to me.

The people that go out spreading this message , may very well be well-meaning. But like MANY events that have occurred , and will occur, it is my opinion only, that only God knows, and that is deliberate.

While I am alive, however , I still have one mission that I cannot get out of my head.  That is to help/hope/see the Annie Lytle Schoolhouse is spared... may sound silly.  but in my heart, it is unfinished business.

Well there goes my vacation starting on October 22nd!

Southwest only does transfers (no refunds).  Time to push that Vegas trip up a month.

Don't forget to run up your credit cards in September and October.  It may be your only chance to finally beat the credit card companies.  However, you have to promise to at least buy a pair of Keds and some Strawberry Kool-Aid :)

No doubt... and clearly not all are religious... :)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Most are'nt religious...have've been brainwashed and just following others and doing what they are told and very few actually have a decent education based on the real world.

Not too sure how we distinguish between these people and maintream Christianity....

So what? These people say the end is sooner, while the mainstream Christians say the end is later....

It is actually ironic. The Bible is written by men through the words of God. It is still written by men, therefore I think you know the conclusion to this, but I won't say it to piss anyone off which was not my intention.

^^^^You make a valid point. Me and friends were dicussing this the other day (we are all Christians BTW). You just have to take it for what its worth. So much of the bible has came to past already, so I believe the bible over a physical person anyday.

I am an agnostic, but I truly admire and applaud your open-mindness and strong faith. Don't ever let anyone take your faith away from you.
