QuoteJACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A person walking through Shell Park in Springfield to work this morning wound up having to call police because of what he saw in Hogan's Creek.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the person called about a body in the creek around 8:30 this morning.

Homicide investigators confirmed the body was near the pedestrian bridge close to the intersection of Fifth Street and Boulevard.

Investigators are now waiting for the dive team to come retrieve the body.

Once the body is removed from the water, investigators will work to determine the identity and the cause of death.

To be completely honest, I'd be shocked if they found a live person in Hogan's Creek.

Should have sent the hazmat team.  Biohazard suits on boys.  I always laugh when I see people fishing in there.  Lol

I cannot help myself and sometimes ask them "you aren't eating those fish right? I mean that thing is REALLY polluted you know?"  Tey ALWAYS answer, "no ma'm I know that fish is no good! I am just havin some fun fishin" Uhuh...that is why the cooler is full of little tiny fishies.

fsujax

i hope they fished out some of the grocery carts while they were in there.

I spoke to a guy a couple of weeks ago that rescued a golden retriever from the section right behind the dog park... so it is possible for a mammal to survive a swim...

There is always a sense of intrigue and potential to either engage directly in an encounter or stumble across evidence of mischief when cruising and exploring these urban waterways.

I once paddled Big Fishweir Creek past the RAP boundary neighborhood and then UNDER Roosevelt/US 17 through culverts that make Times Union Creek seem like wide open spaces.I emerged on the other end and entered the small, wooded public parcel that adjoins Hamilton street..........and came upon a "homeless" camp with scowling occupant.

He was scowling at North Miami, of course.  Wasn't expecting to be spotted.

QuoteOne of the commentors mistook the word 'transient' to mean 'cross dresser' and theyve been arguing over 'he/shes' for the past day or so.

:D :D :D

On a related note... the scene was pretty fun for Rocky Horror last night! :D
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Was he/she found face up or face down? Face up the victim fell in, or fell down (drunk?) and rolled over before he/she died. Face down, the victim was killed and tossed in because NOBODY has EVER been drunk or stoned enough to die FACE DOWN in that creek!

One has to wonder what happened to the creek with the little lakes, sail and swan boats that once coursed through that area? Last time I walked along the wall, I counted no less then 5 piles of human excrement there.
Sickening.
